In yet another disturbing example of the Left’s war on free speech and accountability, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) made headlines — not for her radical rhetoric this time, but for having a conservative journalist physically shoved and harassed by her security detail simply for asking questions.

The incident unfolded on February 10 when independent journalist Nick Sotor attempted to do what the mainstream press refuses to: hold Democrats accountable. Sotor confronted Waters over her inflammatory comments about the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and former President Trump — comments many conservatives view as reckless and dangerous.

Recall, Waters recently made the unhinged claim that Trump “expects violence” and is “working to a civil war,” a wild, fear-mongering statement that has no basis in reality but plenty of potential to incite division.

So, when Sotor spotted Waters heading toward her taxpayer-funded luxury SUV, he decided to ask the tough questions. “Why do you deserve a big black taxpayer-funded SUV?” he asked. “Is that why you’re so against DOGE?”

Before he could get real answers, Waters’ entourage responded not with words — but with force.

According to Sotor, Waters’ security aggressively pushed him and attempted to seize his phone — not once, but twice — in a blatant attempt to prevent footage from being shared publicly. And all because he dared to question a sitting congresswoman about her own words and hypocrisy.

“Democrats are VIOLENT,” Sotor posted on social media following the incident. “Maxine Waters and her entourage attempted to steal my phone TWICE after I asked her why she’s so against government transparency.”

Sotor didn’t mince words. “Of course, she had no answers,” he said. “So the next step was to try to confiscate the device used to record her being frazzled and unable to answer questions. The look Maxine gave me when I mentioned her taxpayer-funded SUV was PRICELESS.”

The video, now widely circulated online, is yet another reminder of the double standard that exists for the political elite. When conservative lawmakers or commentators speak up, they’re painted as dangerous. But when Democrats like Waters spew rhetoric about civil war, or when their teams physically intimidate reporters, the media stays silent.

Commenters online didn’t hold back. One wrote, “They never want to be held accountable for their language to incite violence… Then they try to play the victim.” Another said what many are thinking: “We must have #TermLimitsNow — it’s enough! This guy didn’t deserve to be shoved just for calling her out!”

In a particularly chilling response to the incident, Sotor announced he will now wear body cameras when engaging in his reporting. “I dare the Democrats to come at me. I dare them. Let’s play.”

While Waters hides behind taxpayer-funded vehicles and a wall of handlers, brave conservative journalists like Nick Sotor are doing the job the corporate media refuses to — asking the questions, demanding accountability, and exposing the hypocrisy.
