In a scene straight out of the progressive playbook, Ben Cohen, co-founder of the infamously woke ice cream company Ben & Jerry’s, was arrested on Capitol Hill Wednesday afternoon for disrupting a Senate hearing involving Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Cohen—who has a long history of performative arrests and radical activism—was one of seven individuals detained by the U.S. Capitol Police for creating chaos during the hearing. While Cohen was charged with obstruction, others in the group reportedly resisted arrest and assaulted officers. So much for that “peaceful protest” the Left always claims to support.

The disruption began as Kennedy delivered his opening statement before the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, chaired by Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA). Protesters—led by Cohen—screamed, “RFK kills people with hate!” repeatedly, forcing the hearing to grind to a halt.

“Members of the audience are reminded disruptions will not be permitted while the committee conducts its business,” Sen. Cassidy stated firmly, as U.S. Capitol Police escorted Cohen and others out of the room. Cassidy later quipped, “That was a made-for-C-SPAN moment.”

Indeed it was. Video footage of the arrest posted by The Daily Caller shows Cohen being forcibly removed by officers as the rest of the progressive mob jeered in the background.

Let’s be clear: this isn’t Cohen’s first rodeo. In 2023, he was arrested outside the Department of Justice while blocking the building’s entrance in protest of Julian Assange’s detainment. For a man whose day job is supposedly ice cream, Cohen sure spends a lot of time trying to play street activist.

But no one should be surprised. Ben & Jerry’s has long been a vehicle for far-left ideology, from radical environmentalism to anti-Israel rhetoric. The company’s 2021 decision to boycott Israeli communities in the West Bank—which they smugly refer to as “Occupied Palestinian Territory”—was just another example of their warped worldview.

Despite selling to global conglomerate Unilever in 2000, the company managed to retain an independent board, allowing its founders to continue pushing divisive, progressive propaganda under the guise of ice cream marketing. Conservatives and free speech advocates alike have criticized Ben & Jerry’s for years—and with good reason.

This latest arrest underscores a broader trend: the unhinged, entitled behavior of the radical Left, who believe their ideology places them above the law. Whether it’s screaming down Senate hearings, vandalizing public property, or demanding boycotts of entire nations, activists like Cohen show that their priority isn’t justice or equality—it’s chaos and control.

Meanwhile, RFK Jr., despite not being a favorite among conservatives, appears to be too moderate for the rabid Left. The fact that a Kennedy—once political royalty for Democrats—is now targeted by progressives tells you all you need to know about how far the Left has drifted from reality.

As for Ben Cohen? Maybe he should focus more on making ice cream and less on making scenes.
