Another day, another dishonest media stunt — this time from the heart of riot-plagued Los Angeles, where an ABC News reporter found himself the target of a furious LAPD officer after pushing a false narrative live on air. What was supposed to be a routine live hit quickly spiraled into an explosive clash between a fed-up police officer and a reporter apparently more interested in stirring up outrage than reporting the truth.

It happened on Saturday, June 14, during ABC News Live’s coverage of the ongoing unrest in Los Angeles — another round of so-called “protests” that quickly devolved into full-blown riots. As the city burned (again), ABC’s Matt Gutman went live from the scene and began whining about an alleged altercation with police, claiming on-air, “You’re pushing me on live television.”

But that’s when a clearly fed-up LAPD officer snapped — and rightly so.

“You touched my partner! Don’t touch my partner!” the officer barked, getting right in Gutman’s face. “I’m letting you know — don’t touch him!”

Gutman, clearly shaken and backpedaling, began trying to spin the moment for the cameras, telling viewers that “tensions are high.” That only poured gasoline on the fire, as the officer shot back, “Yes! Because you touched the officer!”

Another officer joined the confrontation and backed his partner, ordering Gutman and his crew, “Don’t touch the officers.” But Gutman continued to deny what happened, insisting, “We clearly didn’t touch the officers.” The officer’s response was swift and clear: “Yes, you did!”

Of course, in typical fashion, leftist commentators rushed to defend the reporter and vilify law enforcement — because nothing says “mainstream media” like siding against the men and women trying to keep cities from collapsing into total chaos.

One user, Christopher Webb, even called for the officer’s job, writing, “Hats off to ABC News reporter Matt Gutman for keeping his cool. This LAPD officer needs to be relieved of duty if he can’t handle an alleged ‘touch’ without snapping.”

That take didn’t age well. Conservative users weren’t having it.

“You have no right to lay hands on an officer without invitation,” one commenter wrote. “Letter of the law — that’s assault on a peace officer. If you don’t like it, change the law instead of breaking it.”

Another added, “Here’s a thought. Don’t touch riot officers when they’re dealing with riots. Real simple actually… 🤣🤣🤡”

And perhaps the most blistering rebuke came from a commenter who nailed the bigger issue: “I see an officer who sees a petulant agitator who exploits situations for views and lies to make them worse. That lying reporter is the reason the cop had to be in that situation in the first place.”

Once again, this incident shows exactly what’s wrong with the media in 2025. While cities like Los Angeles burn thanks to soft-on-crime Democrats and their activist enablers, mainstream reporters aren’t interested in truth — they’re interested in drama. And when the police refuse to be their punching bags, they cry foul on live television.

Americans see through this. The officers on the ground are doing their jobs. The media, meanwhile, are just playing theirs — and it’s a bad act.
