President Trump’s swift and decisive leadership has once again been vindicated, as the situation spiraling out of control in Los Angeles forced the LAPD to declare an unlawful assembly while Governor Gavin Newsom continues to play political games and deny reality.

The mayhem began on June 7, 2025, when radical mobs descended on Los Angeles under the guise of protesting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations. In reality, these so-called “protesters” unleashed a wave of chaos that looked more like a replay of the lawlessness seen during the 2020 riots. Masked agitators torched vehicles, assaulted law enforcement officers, desecrated American flags, and did their best to transform one of America’s largest cities into a war zone—all in defense of illegal aliens violating U.S. immigration laws.

While Democrats pandered to the radicals, President Trump acted like a true Commander-in-Chief. Recognizing the grave threat to public safety and the rule of law, Trump deployed 2,000 National Guard troops to the city to help restore order and protect federal personnel and property. But instead of thanking the President for stepping in where state leadership failed, Governor Gavin Newsom doubled down on his tired, partisan narrative.

“Donald Trump has manufactured a crisis and is inflaming conditions. If he can’t solve it, we will,” Newsom declared, trying to blame Trump for the very violence he allowed to fester. He went so far as to absurdly claim that Trump was “using” the violent agitators as an excuse to “militarize” Los Angeles and “circumvent our democracy.”

Newsom’s desperate attempt to spin the situation ignored the plain facts unfolding in his own backyard. While he preached about “peaceful protesters,” businesses were being looted, officers attacked, and innocent citizens left in fear as mobs overran parts of downtown.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt wasted no time setting the record straight. In a powerful statement on X, she exposed Newsom’s failure: “Gavin Newsom did nothing as violent riots erupted in Los Angeles for days. Federal law enforcement officers were attacked by violent radicals and illegal criminals waving foreign flags because Governor Newsom was too weak to protect the city.”

Leavitt continued, hammering home what every law-abiding American could see with their own eyes: “The Los Angeles Police Chief has even said the riots were getting out of hand. President Trump has stepped in to maintain law and order and protect federal buildings.”

Meanwhile, Newsom shamefully tried to double down on his fiction, insisting that local law enforcement “didn’t need help” and blaming Trump for “destabilizing” the situation — even as chaos unfolded in real time. But reality quickly exposed the governor’s falsehoods.

On June 9, the LAPD was forced to declare an unlawful assembly in downtown Los Angeles, as violent agitators splintered throughout the city. In a public safety warning, the LAPD stated: “Agitators have splintered into and throughout the Downtown Area. Residents, businesses and visitors to the Downtown Area should be alert and report any criminal activity. Officers are responding to several different locations to disperse crowds. An UNLAWFUL ASSEMBLY has been declared.”

The bottom line is simple: while Democrats like Gavin Newsom pander to the radical left and put illegal immigrants ahead of American citizens, President Trump once again demonstrated the leadership needed to defend law, order, and the safety of U.S. communities.

In the face of Democrat lies and lawlessness, Trump’s actions prove one thing: America needs strong leadership, not weak politicians who coddle criminals.
