In yet another stunning display of dishonesty from Democrat leadership, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass was caught flat-footed this weekend after boldly denying the presence of the National Guard in Los Angeles—only to have video footage and reports immediately confirm that National Guard troops were already deployed and positioned throughout the city.

The deployment came on the heels of President Trump’s decisive action to restore law and order in Los Angeles, where violent leftist mobs have been rioting for days in an attempt to block ICE from carrying out lawful deportations of illegal immigrants. As usual, radical activists and open-borders extremists are doing everything they can to protect those who have no legal right to remain in the country, even if it means attacking federal law enforcement and destroying property.

President Trump, refusing to allow the chaos to spiral any further, invoked his constitutional authority on Friday, June 6th, to federalize the California National Guard. In his statement, Trump made it clear that these anarchists aren’t merely protesting — they are engaging in open rebellion against the federal government.

“Numerous incidents of violence and disorder have recently occurred and threaten to continue in response to the enforcement of Federal law by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE),” Trump said. “Violent protests threaten the security of and significant damage to Federal immigration detention facilities and other Federal property.”

The President went on to call these actions a form of rebellion against lawful federal authority, adding: “By the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, I hereby call into Federal service members and units of the National Guard… to protect ICE and other United States Government personnel performing Federal functions, and to protect Federal property at locations where protests against these functions are occurring.”

Soon after, thousands of National Guard troops began moving into the city to reinforce federal agents and assist local law enforcement. But despite this very public deployment, Mayor Bass tried to gaslight the public on Sunday morning, declaring, “The National Guard has not been deployed in the City of Los Angeles.”

Within hours, however, the truth surfaced. ABC 7 Los Angeles was broadcasting live footage of National Guard armored vehicles and heavily equipped troops already stationed in downtown LA. National Guard personnel were visibly positioned on Alameda Street, geared up to handle the violent mobs.

Caught in her lie, Mayor Bass scrambled to backtrack, calling the federal deployment a “chaotic escalation.” She tried to shift blame onto President Trump, saying, “The fear people are feeling in our city right now is very real… This is the last thing our city needs.”

What Bass conveniently ignores is that the “fear” stems from her own refusal to maintain law and order, allowing criminals and left-wing agitators to take over the streets while law-abiding citizens and federal officers are placed in danger.

Once again, we see the Democrat playbook in full effect: deny, deflect, and demonize anyone who tries to restore order. Fortunately, President Trump isn’t playing their political games — he’s taking real action to protect American sovereignty and uphold the rule of law.

As Trump so accurately put it: “Order will be restored, the Illegals will be expelled, and Los Angeles will be set free.”

It’s about time.
