Kim Cattrall earned widespread recognition for her portrayal of Samantha in the “Sex and the City” franchise, but she gained a new level of acclaim when refusing to reprise her role in the spinoff series “And Just Like That.”

The actress shared a sorrowful update on Instagram. Her beloved mother, Shane Cattrall had passed away at 93 years old.

Kim shared a few snapshots of herself with her mother, accompanied by an emotional caption, “Shane Cattrall 1929 – 2022 Rest in peace Mum.”

Although Kim has not released an exact cause of death, it is known that her mother had been in optimal health earlier this year. To honor Mother’s Day, Kim shared a snapshot showcasing the beautiful bond between them and sent her mom some well-wishes for the special day.

Beforehand, Kim uploaded a video of her mother happily crooning an anthem in honor of UK Mother’s Day.

Kim took to social media in February to share a few pictures of her and her mother celebrating the latter’s 93rd birthday. At the time she penned her thoughts, “Happy 93rd Birthday Mum! You’ve seen it all and we’re lucky to still have you with us.”

As if her mother’s passing were not heartbreaking enough, Kim Cattrall has already experienced a devastating loss in the form of her brother Chris’ death five years ago. Tragically, he was only 55 at the time. Kim made the announcement on social media, which was met with warm regards and well wishes from her former castmate Sarah Jessica Parker. Kim was visibly upset by the kind remarks and sharply responded back in writing, “My Mom asked me today ‘When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?’”

In a revealing interview, Kim candidly clarified that she never formed true friendships with her “Sex and the City” co-stars and they have since lost touch. She also opened up to Piers Morgan about why having children was not an option for her, as seen in the video below.
