In typical fashion, former MSNBC host Joy Reid is pointing fingers rather than taking responsibility for her fall from prime time. In a recent appearance on “The Breakfast Club,” Reid claimed that her ousting from the far-left network earlier this year was due not to sagging ratings or alienating content—but to her anti-Trump commentary and sympathetic coverage of Gaza.
Yes, really.
According to Reid, she was blindsided by her February firing and believes it had less to do with performance and more to do with MSNBC’s fear of poking the proverbial bear—namely, President Donald J. Trump.
“We had just had a ratings meeting… the ratings have not gotten better since I left,” she insisted, brushing aside the well-documented post-election viewer exodus that left liberal cable news scrambling. In Reid’s world, it seems the problem is never the message—it’s always the messenger.
When asked why MSNBC cut ties with her, Reid recounted being called in suddenly and let go without any explanation. “They were just like, ‘Oh, we just want to make some changes,’” she said. “They never said why.”
That silence, she claims, speaks volumes. Reid went on to speculate that her relentless attacks on President Trump made network brass squirm, especially in an era where the 45th president is once again leading the polls, dominating headlines, and suing media outlets that slander him with impunity.
“Trump is suing everybody,” Reid claimed. “He’s verbally threatened Comcast by name, named [CEO] Brian Roberts… He can pull your license.” In other words, MSNBC—one of the most virulently anti-Trump networks on air—is supposedly now bowing to Trump out of fear. It’s a fantasy that might sell among left-wing circles, but hardly holds water.
The other alleged sin that cost her the job? Talking about Gaza. Reid claimed that “humanizing Palestinians” is something American media isn’t comfortable with, despite the fact that much of the mainstream press has gone out of its way to criticize Israel while downplaying or ignoring Hamas atrocities.
And let’s not forget—this is the same Joy Reid who pushed radical narratives like the 1619 Project, gave favorable coverage to BLM’s destructive agenda, and routinely smeared half the country as racist for simply supporting conservative principles.
At the time of her firing, Reid defiantly said, “I am not sorry I stood up for those things because those things are of God.” She called her show a moral crusade and seemed to cast herself as a modern-day prophet being silenced by corporate cowards.
But viewers had a different take. Many were simply tired of the constant race-baiting, anti-American rhetoric, and doomsday narratives designed to divide the country.
The truth is, MSNBC likely realized what many Americans already knew: Reid’s brand of activism masquerading as journalism was toxic—not just to the network’s reputation, but to its viewership.
In the end, her exit wasn’t about Trump or Gaza. It was about credibility. And Joy Reid lost hers long ago.
