Brides and grooms are always looking for ways to save money on their wedding day, but one couple took it too far when they decided not to provide food or drinks beyond water. Their guests were understandably outraged and the bride-to-be was “shocked” that anyone was angry with them! To make sure your celebration goes off without a hitch, invest in delicious cuisine along with providing a variety of alcoholic beverages, such as well liquors, or an open bar paying homage to all tastes so everyone can have fun at this special event!

Guests were left in awe when they realized that the only beverage being served on this special occasion was water. The bride and groom had always intended for their wedding to be “dry,” but the 130 guests assumed there would be some kind of sweet tea or lemonade available to quench their thirst on such a scorching day. Instead, they were surprised by an array of chilled filtered water!

The bride and groom determined that, despite their aversion to alcoholic beverages, they would offer nothing but water at the reception – guests be damned.

“We rarely, if ever, drink soda, so most of the time, it’s only water with the occasional juice and milk. We don’t even drink coffee,” she stated.

The bride’s family was incensed. They labeled the bride and groom as self-absorbed for not providing any drinks, proposing that they could still salvage the “unenjoyable” wedding by opting to get a cash bar so their attendees could have some entertainment.

“I didn’t think this would be a problem! It’s only water. I mean, don’t most people drink water every day anyway? Should we pay the extra to have a soda to make the family happy,” the bride said on Reddit.

Many people warned the bride that “the wedding would be boring and the kids would be upset” if they only served water.

Despite the rising costs, the bride refused to purchase anything but water as they were financially responsible for much of their wedding.

“My grandma said she doesn’t care one way or the other on this issue. She just loves weddings,” the bride wrote on Reddit.

On Reddit, there was no shortage of commentary regarding the dry wedding. Numerous individuals expressed their opinions on this unique event.

“I know that technically you could be in the right, but here’s the thing about weddings, the marriage ceremony is for you and your fiancé. The wedding is for everyone you’ve invited, it’s an event you’re hosting, and not providing any drinks other than water makes you a bad host/hostess,” one man stated.

“I fully support a dry wedding, but only water as a beverage is being a cheap host,” said another person.

Some proposed that guests bring their own drinks.

“Half the guests will be in the parking lot during the reception, drinking cans of soda and juice, etc., out of the trunk of someone’s car and leave after dinner,” one woman wrote.

“Seriously, people will be passing around plastic water bottles filled with liquor like it’s high school all over again,” added another.
