In a major win for the America First movement and a direct shot across the bow of Biden’s open-borders agenda, Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) has introduced legislation that could finally bring an end to one of the most abused loopholes in U.S. immigration law: birthright citizenship for the children of illegal aliens.

Dubbed the Constitutional Citizenship Clarification Act (CCCA), Cotton’s bill seeks to amend the Immigration and Nationality Act, explicitly stating what the Founders never intended: that U.S. citizenship should not be handed out like candy to anyone who happens to be born on American soil — especially if their parents are here illegally, or worse, are foreign spies or terrorists.

Let’s be clear: this isn’t about denying citizenship to lawful immigrants or their children. This is about restoring the integrity of U.S. sovereignty and ending a policy that’s long been exploited by illegal immigrants as a backdoor path to amnesty.

“For too long, the promise of automatic citizenship has acted like a neon sign at the border,” Sen. Cotton said in a statement. “There is no constitutional right for illegal aliens to cross the border to gain citizenship for their children.”

He’s right — and he’s not alone. President Trump, long a champion of closing the anchor baby loophole, attempted to tackle the issue with an executive order during his first term. Now, with the MAGA movement stronger than ever, Cotton’s bill brings that fight to the legislative battlefield — where it belongs.

Under the proposed law, babies born on American soil to illegal aliens, foreign terrorists, and enemy agents would no longer be granted automatic citizenship. It’s a return to common sense — something sorely missing from today’s immigration debate.

Cotton, speaking to the dangers of the status quo, added: “Granting birthright citizenship to illegal aliens has contributed to the highest levels of illegal immigration in history. Fixing this will help reduce the damage from Joe Biden’s catastrophic border crisis.”

He’s not exaggerating. The Biden administration’s willful negligence has unleashed millions of unvetted migrants into our communities — with zero accountability. Catch-and-release is back. ICE has been defanged. And the Department of Homeland Security is more focused on “equity” than national security.

Fortunately, Senator Cotton isn’t just stopping with legislation. He’s remained a vocal supporter of ending catch-and-release, restoring ICE’s authority, and backing DHS efforts under a future Trump administration to detain and deport illegal aliens swiftly and efficiently.

In a recent tweet praising new enforcement moves, Cotton said: “Great news. I commend President Trump and @DHSgov for ending the outrageous ‘catch & release’ policy that encouraged illegal immigration and made a mockery of our sovereignty.”

The message from Cotton and the MAGA movement is clear: America is a nation, not a doormat. We don’t owe citizenship to the world. We owe our children secure borders, a functioning immigration system, and leaders who put American citizens first.

With this bill, Senator Cotton is doing exactly that. Now it’s up to Congress — and the American people — to decide if they still believe in the rule of law.

It’s time to end the anchor baby scam.
