A heinous anti-Muslim incident recently unfolded at an Atlanta, Georgia McDonald’s location when the staff was alleged to have purposely put bacon into a Muslim family’s sandwiches. The Council of American-Islamic Relations has filed a formal complaint against this restaurant for deliberately inserting pork products in these orders just to create friction and force Muslims to consume something that goes against their beliefs.

The Muslim family, having heard numerous positive things about Decatur, was excited to explore the city from their home in New York. Once they began feeling peckish, they opted for a local McDonald’s restaurant as sustenance. Upon ordering fourteen sandwiches – all of which explicitly excluded any bacon or pork due to religious beliefs – the family hoped to finally be able to satisfy their hunger pangs.

Yet, the family came to find that they were inadvertently eating bacon in their McDonald’s sandwiches – something which is strictly prohibited by Muslim and Islamic dietary laws.

The family was familiar with their McDonald’s back in New York and knew that some of the dishes did not contain bacon. They assured one another they could rely on this when ordering, however, the malicious employees of a Georgia franchise wanted to force them into abandoning their religious practice. Thus, they deliberately included bacon in these orders against what had previously been established by the family members.

“They started noticing it tasted different to them,” stated Khaula Hadeed, head of the Alabama chapter of the CAIR. “They eat McChicken all the time at McDonald’s. They knew what they ordered — they know what’s in the sandwich.”

Hadeed was unequivocal in his belief that a band of anti-Islamic McDonald’s employees were behind the attack against his Muslim family in Decatur.

“It doesn’t sound like a mistake, especially on 14 sandwiches,” Hadeed said, labeling the incident “an intentional act of religious and ethnic bigotry.”

Hadeed is demanding that law enforcement or the McDonald’s location take action and investigate what exactly happened on that fateful day. According to his account, an adult became so ill from their bacon sandwich at the Georgia McDonald’s restaurant they threw up twice afterwards in disgust.

“They’re essentially disturbed about it,” she said. “McDonald’s should investigate this incident, identify and terminate the employees responsible, and take proactive steps to satisfy this American family’s concerns, starting with an apology.”

On social media, the majority of people supported the family’s stance.

“I’ve certainly seen ‘good Christians’ doing some nasty things to those who are different,” said one person. “I don’t know what happened here, but I can believe that someone putting together the sandwiches in a way that they knew would be offensive … I tend to believe the Muslim family and think that some nasty fool stuck bacon into their sandwiches as a way to humiliate and inflict suffering on someone who is ‘other.’ That’s UnAmerican, in my books.”
