Ruth Scully never knew that a bathroom rug would trigger an emotional response. A bathroom rug is just a decoration in the bathroom for most people. However, it brings back happy memories of Ruth’s son. Ruth’s son was battling cancer and never wanted to be away from his mom. He would lie on the shower until his mom had finished showering.
Ruth’s son developed a stuffy nose. His parents did not think it was serious at first. They took him to the doctor. They thought he had a sinus infection. The boy was treated with antibiotics, but he did not get better. After he did not get better, his parents took him back to the doctor. The specialist recommended removing his tonsils. They tested his adenoid tissue and discovered that it was cancerous. The boy underwent chemotherapy and radiation.
The boy, whose name is Nolan, prayed that he could be healed from cancer. On February 4, 2017, he passed away from cancer. Nolan spent the last days of his life in a coma. However, before he died, he managed to wake up from the coma and say “I love you, mommy.” Nolan wanted to make sure that his mother was comforted before he left.
