Subway began using Jared Fogle in commercials after his rise to fame. These helped him jumpstart his profession, which he did by quickly becoming a household figure.
In 2015, Jared Fogle’s life came to a halt when he was convicted of one count of distribution and receipt of child pornography, as well as one count of traveling in order to engage in unlawful sexual activity with a minor. For his misdeeds, he was sentenced to 15 years and eight months in prison.
Back in 2007, when he was a famous spokesperson for Subway sandwiches and appeared on TV, John Fogle acknowledged that children between the ages of 12 and 16 were his favorite prey. According to reports, prosecutors discovered 400 child-porn videos during investigations.
After pleading guilty to child pornography and paying for sex with an underage girl, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison. His 14 victims were awarded $1.4 million in compensation.
Because Fogle has been incarcerated since he was found guilty and sentenced to more than a decade and a half in prison, none of his plans have panned out as planned. He claims that he is dissatisfied with his life behind bars and “hates” it.
Fogle writes a letter while incarcerated at Englewood Federal Correctional Institution in which he complains about the way he is treated by both prison guards and other inmates.
“We don’t have a lot of control over our daily lives in prison, but working out is one of the things I can control.”
He also claims that being confined in a cell at the Englewood Federal Correctional Institution has been difficult for him. He states that in better health now than he was previously, his life behind bars is extremely challenging.
During leisure time, Fogle and the other inmates would watch sports on television. He does, however, utilize his free time to maintain his health and body in good condition by engaging in physical activities such as athletics and exercise.
“I feel really good physically and mentally.”
Fogle’s legal team also submitted a letter to the court. Fogle, in his letter, apologized for his actions. Even though he appears unable to accept full responsibility for his actions or the harm he caused to innocent children, he apologizes in the missive.
He wrote: “I realize I royally screwed up to wind up where I am. I was selfish and entitled. I think about all the people I’ve let down every single day, especially my family. All I can do is learn from my stupid mistakes to be a better man when I get released in a few years.”
He misses things on the outside. He stated, “Prison takes away so much, but I really miss the small things like walking barefoot on the carpet, sleeping on a nice comfy mattress, eating with real silverware, and having access to a microwave.”
In 2029, when Fogle has completed 85% of his sentence, he’ll be eligible for parole for the first time. It’s also uncertain if the court will demand Fogle to serve more time than is permitted by law, or if he’ll be sentenced to use the remainder of his life behind bars.
