Another “historic first” for the Democratic Party has ended in disgrace. Former New Hampshire state representative Stacie Laughton, a biological male who identifies as transgender, has been convicted in federal court on shocking child exploitation charges connected to an investigation involving Laughton’s former partner, Lindsay Groves.
Both individuals are now behind bars — Groves pleaded guilty in October, and Laughton followed with a guilty plea in federal court in Boston this week.
Laughton, once hailed by Democrats and the liberal media as a “trailblazer” for becoming the first openly transgender state legislator in U.S. history, represented Hillsborough County’s District 31 from 2020 to 2022. Laughton was first elected in 2012 but resigned almost immediately after reports surfaced of a previous criminal conviction. Despite a long and troubling history with the law, Democrat voters continued to reelect Laughton, who repeatedly ran as a symbol of “progress” and “representation.”
Now, that progressive poster child stands convicted of horrific crimes involving children.
Federal investigators revealed that Groves — who worked at a daycare — took explicit photos of children as young as three years old and sent them to Laughton. Even more disturbing, Laughton didn’t just receive the images passively; he requested them, according to court filings. The two exchanged thousands of text messages discussing the photos, exposing the depravity of their relationship and the depth of the crimes.
While the mainstream media has been notably quiet about the case, conservative voices have been quick to call out the double standard and moral rot within the Left’s political ranks.
Investigative journalist Andy Ngo posted details about Laughton’s history on X, writing: “Stacie Marie Laughton, who was arrested for alleged child s*x crimes in New Hampshire, was elected multiple times as a state lawmaker by Democrat voters in the Granite State. In December 2022, Laughton resigned after being arrested for allegedly stalking a woman. Laughton has a long criminal history that includes threatening to bomb a local hospital.”
In other words, the warning signs were there — and the Democratic Party ignored them.
The popular account Libs of TikTok also blasted Democrats for embracing and campaigning with Laughton despite the red flags. “BREAKING: New Hampshire’s first transgender elected Rep. Stacie Laughton pleaded guilty to child exploitation charges. He reportedly asked his partner who worked in a daycare to send him n*de photos of kids. Eric Swalwell campaigned with him,” the account posted.
Another post pointed out that Beto O’Rourke and Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) both appeared publicly with Laughton, despite his disturbing past. “.@BetoORourke and @ericswalwell campaigned with Stacie Laughton, the transgender New Hampshire State Rep who just pleaded guilty to child exploitation charges after reportedly asking his partner who worked at a daycare to send him n*de pictures of kids,” the post read.
Commentator Oli London summed up what many Americans are thinking: “New Hampshire’s first Transgender State Representative pleads guilty to child exploitation charges. Stacie Laughton, a man who identifies as a ‘woman,’ has pled guilty in a federal court to charges related to the possession of exploitation images of children at a day care.”
This case is more than just another Democrat scandal — it’s a wake-up call about what happens when identity politics replaces moral judgment. Democrats and the media celebrated Laughton not because of character, values, or integrity, but because of identity. And in doing so, they elevated a deeply disturbed individual who went on to commit heinous crimes against the most innocent members of society.
It’s time for accountability. Not just for Stacie Laughton — but for the political establishment and media outlets that glorified this predator while smearing conservatives as “bigots” for daring to question the wisdom of their “historic firsts.”
The Left demanded applause for Laughton’s “representation.” Now they owe America an apology.
