The Left’s war on law enforcement has hit a new low — and now they’re panicking as the consequences roll in.

Democratic Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) is facing federal charges after physically assaulting a federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer during an unhinged open-borders protest at the Delaney Hall detention facility in Newark, New Jersey, on May 9. Footage from the event shows McIver shouting obscenities and manhandling officers, yelling, *“I touch whoever I want, motherf*\*\*er!”\* — a disgraceful spectacle from a sitting member of Congress.

The federal response came swiftly. U.S. Attorney Alina Habba, in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, announced that McIver would be prosecuted under Title 18, Section 111(a)(1) of the U.S. Code — a charge typically reserved for those who assault or interfere with federal law enforcement.

But rather than condemn this brazen attack on law and order, Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) chose to go on a social media tirade that many interpreted as an open threat. “A RED LINE has been crossed,” Swalwell ranted on X. “Trump is prosecuting his political enemies in Congress. This is just the beginning. We must take whatever we’ve done before to show dissent and go ONE RUNG HIGHER.”

If that wasn’t enough, Swalwell ended his tantrum with a chilling warning to the U.S. Attorney: *“Save your bullshit documents on this, Alina. You’ll need them when you testify.”*

This isn’t the first time Swalwell has made headlines for all the wrong reasons. From his infamous entanglement with a Chinese spy to his routine hyperventilating over Trump, Swalwell has become a walking cautionary tale about who we elect to federal office. But now, he’s gone from embarrassing to dangerous, using language that veers into intimidation of law enforcement and prosecutors.

Libs of TikTok didn’t hold back, slamming Swalwell’s statement: *“Eric Swalwell is now threatening government officials at ICE detention facilities.”* A video of Swalwell’s other inflammatory remarks was included in the post, leaving no doubt about his reckless rhetoric.

Meanwhile, U.S. Attorney Alina Habba is staying focused on the law — not politics. In her formal letter explaining the charges against McIver, she stated, *“I take my obligations as U.S. Attorney seriously. I understand the responsibility that comes with my position, and I will work diligently to uphold the law and deliver justice to the people of New Jersey.”*

In a demonstration of fair leadership, Habba also dropped a minor trespass charge against Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, instead inviting him to tour the Delaney Hall facility. “The government has nothing to hide,” she wrote. “The citizens of New Jersey deserve unified leadership so we can get to work to keep our state safe.”

But when it came to McIver, Habba didn’t mince words. *“Representative LaMonica McIver assaulted, impeded, and interfered with law enforcement… That conduct cannot be overlooked… No one is above the law — politicians or otherwise.”*

Unlike the Biden DOJ’s selective prosecutions and double standards, this case is a rare example of a Democrat being held to account. McIver had every chance to resolve the matter without criminal charges, but refused. Now, the justice system is doing what the Left fears most — enforcing the law without political bias.

The message is clear: The days of Democrat immunity are over. And if Swalwell and his colleagues want to throw tantrums over basic law enforcement, maybe they should take a long look in the mirror — because it’s not the justice system that’s broken. It’s their party.
