The memorial has who died in the county of Allegheny and the officers who died elsewhere but grew up in the county of Allegheny. The Pittsburg Police’s Twitter account added that the memorial shows the determination and hard work of the police officers from the department- Seargent William Burke and Seargent Michael brown. According to the department, the police officers and the survivors of the police officers were recruited in the system. Thus, a memorial Inc of the law enforcement officers, as well as the Allegheny County, was formed. According to the page, the memorial finally happened after much planning, design work, and a lot of fundraising campaigns. Around this time, the land in North Shore, near the Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburg, became available. The groundbreaking happened, and the works to build the memorial began on May 25, 1996, and were done three months later. To make the Heinz field and Gateway Clipper River Boat Dock, the original memorial was destroyed and stored. In the fall of 2000, the memorial was remade and inaugurated. The memorial was kept in storage until May 2003.

Since the death of George Floyd by a law enforcement officer and other black persons killed by racist police officers, protests that have come up all across the country have increased vandalism cases. This is the second time the memorial is being vandalized. The same memorial was vandalized in March when somebody spray painted it with graffiti. A vandal displaying police performing their duties was displayed. With the public’s help, the Pittsburg Bureau of Police is hoping that they would be able to find the couple who vandalized and disrespected the memorial.
