Chris and Mareisa Hughes were immediately drawn to each other, but their connection intensified when they discovered their mutual love of dogs. After realizing that no force could tear them apart, the two decided to get married and have since devoted themselves to providing a loving home for countless four-legged friends in need – fostering those who needed temporary homes until finding new families, as well as adopting some furry bundles of joy into their own family.
From the very start, Chris and Mareisa were a perfect match – they both had an unwavering devotion to their furry companions. While Mareisa proudly owned two four-legged friends, Chris presided over six canine pals under his roof. Combining their eight pups led them down a fulfilling path of unconditional love and lasting friendship!
“[Chris] had a rescue before The Mr. Mo Project called ‘Rowdy to the Rescue,’” Mariesa said. “He was fostering Moses at the time, then ended up keeping him. Sam had a lot of fear and anxiety and was never adopted out, and Meatball has been returned three times. So then, he had the 6 [dogs].”
After the couple’s dogs met, they quickly became friends and playmates. Not long after that momentous meeting, the duo decided to join their lives as one and deepen their shared love of pups.
Chris and Mareisa felt a passion for pups, so they created Mr. Mo Project to give senior and ill dogs the happy home they never had. Too often these dogs go overlooked by society, but it was their mission to ensure each pup found its rightful place in life – one full of love and comfort!
When Chris and Mareisa moved in together, they wanted to have a bed crafted that could accommodate all their furry family members – Mabel, Gremlin, Meatball, Tejas, Money, The Stig. Sam and Quinn – so they can all share sweet dreams at night!
The couple contacted a nearby builder, Mike Ford. He was more than willing to make their wishes for an ample bed for all of their dogs come true since he had the same passion and love for canines as they did.
“I’m a dog lover myself, especially senior dogs,” Ford stated. “They came up with the idea for the king-sized bed and asked me to come up with the concept to make it all work.”
Crafted with solid cherry wood, Ford constructed the bed frame to be robust enough to support all of his furry friends. To allow for easy access to the comfortable sleeping area, a staircase was also made so that even small pups could reach it without difficulty.
The couple delights in their voluminous bed, and so do their furry friends!
“I wake up, and I think, ‘This is incredible. I’m like a contortionist with Stig spooning me and Gremlin between my legs and Sam sharing my pillow,’” Mariesa stated. “They love it. They love to just be near us. So however we can make that happen, they’re happy.”
