Embattled Texas congressman and establishment darling Rep. Dan Crenshaw is once again in hot water — this time with his own party. According to Punchbowl News, top House Republicans quietly slapped Crenshaw with a three-month international travel ban after what sources described as an “alcohol-related episode” during a taxpayer-funded congressional delegation to Mexico in August.

And yes, it’s just as embarrassing as it sounds.

The Incident: A Toast Gone Wrong

During the trip, Crenshaw reportedly joined in on a crude toast offered by a Mexican official — a toast so inappropriate that several female members of Congress felt uncomfortable. The episode was serious enough that House Intelligence Chairman Rick Crawford (R-AR) pushed to have Crenshaw removed from the committee entirely. Ultimately, Speaker Mike Johnson settled on a travel ban after a tense closed-door confrontation.

Crenshaw, as expected, is denying everything.

Crenshaw Calls It “Clickbait” — But Punchbowl Stands Firm

Immediately after the story broke, Crenshaw rushed to social media to spin the narrative.

“Big problem with this clickbait story,” he protested. “I was booked to go on an overseas CODEL… The CODEL was canceled right before departure due to the government shutdown, but not due to any so-called ‘travel ban.’”

He then tried to downplay the episode, saying the “alcohol-related incident” was nothing more than him offering “a toast with Mexican Generals.” Crenshaw insisted, “The truth is very boring. I’m shocked Punchbowl would try to sell you subscriptions with clickbait.”

But Punchbowl News co-founder Jake Sherman wasn’t having it. He fired back:
“Crenshaw was barred from international taxpayer travel for 90 days by the chair of his committee.”

That’s a direct, unequivocal statement — and it contradicts everything the Texas RINO is trying to sell.

Conservatives Aren’t Buying Crenshaw’s Excuses

Among the GOP grassroots, frustration with Crenshaw has been bubbling for years. His latest scandal has only cemented perceptions that he represents the very swamp Republicans are trying to drain.

One furious conservative wrote:
“Congressional Republicans just slapped Dan Crenshaw with a 3-month ban… while America is fighting real battles, this guy is embarrassing the country on taxpayer-funded travel.”

Another demanded accountability:
“We pay taxes to fund @DanCrenshawTX’s ‘drinking episodes’ in Mexico. I want a FULL REFUND!”

Even harsher was a user who fired back directly at Crenshaw:
“Your words mean NOTHING. You were banned for drinking on the job.”

A Few Jokes… But the Damage Is Done

Not everyone was outraged — a few took a lighter tone, joking that the crude toast might be “the first thing Dan Crenshaw has ever done worth supporting,” or that Congress was “super g*y” for disciplining him over a joke.

But for the Republican base, this scandal isn’t funny. It’s a symbol of everything wrong with the party’s old guard: entitlement, lack of accountability, and a growing disconnect from the voters they’re supposed to represent.

As the 2026 midterms approach and MAGA momentum rises, Crenshaw’s latest embarrassment sends a clear message:
The era of RINOs behaving badly on the taxpayer’s dime is coming to an end — travel ban or not.
