There have been many shootings across America of unarmed men and women of all races. However, most of these men and women getting shot are of African American descent. They are getting shot at the hands of police officers and the hands of other African Americans. These individuals are also killed by other citizens who work as security guards, store clerks, and various positions. In Indiana, one recent case was when a store clerk took the law into his own hands and killed a gentleman for stealing Red Bull. This is insane and people should be punished for using vigilante justice. As of recent, this store clerk has been charged with murder because, in this case, it was murder. The gun that the store clerk used to kill the man was unauthorized by the store and unregistered. Even if the weapon was registered, no one deserves to die over Red Bull.

Mr. Bibbs is the name of the store clerk who shot the thief. He did not just shoot the thief in the leg or the arm, but he shot the thief in the face; this was an attempt to kill. The Indianapolis Police Department did release a statement on the arrest and murder charge that Mr. Bibbs would currently be facing. Amongst the released information was also his first appearance in court and the date of his pre-trial conference. The shooting happened at a speedway in Indianapolis and the victim was a 49-year-old army veteran named Damon McClain. His family and friends very much loved Mr. McClain and it’s sad to see that his life was cut short over Red Bull by another African American man. This is going to be a difficult case for the store clerk to try and beat. The reason why is because there were witnesses to the shooting. The witnesses stated that they saw the store clerk come behind the counter, chase the man down and shoot him.

The store clerk was so cold and had such a lack of respect for life he shot this veteran and did not call 911 until after he served two more customers. This was witnessed by one of the witnesses who saw the whole thing. When the police arrived on the scene they found the victim dead in the front seat of his car. When they questioned the store clerk he told a bald-faced lie by denying the whole incident. He even stated that he did not have a gun. If it weren’t for the witnesses on the scene he could have possibly got away with murder. The security footage was also key; it did not capture the actual shooting. It did however capture Mr. McClain stealing the Red Bull and Mr. Bibbs goes after him. Other evidence that authorities found at the scene were the actual Red Bulls that were stolen and the 9-millimeter handgun used in the murder.

What is so unfortunate about this incident is that an army veteran lost his life over a few cans of Red Bull. Also, you had one African-American male shoot another African American male over in the equivalent of a few dollars. Then the individual had no compassion to call 911 so that aid could be rendered immediately. The irony of all this is that African-Americans in this society love to complain about the police or murdering African Americans, but they never speak on how other African Americans are murdering African Americans. So I ask myself and other African Americans do black lives matter.
