In a move that’s sending shockwaves through the global political establishment, a member of Britain’s House of Lords is officially urging the UK government to nominate President Donald J. Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. The reason? Trump may have just stopped a nuclear war.
Lord Sarfraz, a Conservative life peer and respected businessman, submitted the request following Trump’s successful negotiation of a ceasefire between two nuclear-armed rivals—India and Pakistan. The deal comes after a surge in military action that had the region teetering on the brink of all-out war.
Trump, as usual, acted boldly and without hesitation. On May 10, he announced a brokered ceasefire between the two nations, praising both countries’ leadership for stepping back from the edge of devastation. “Millions of good and innocent people could have died!” Trump said. “Your legacy is greatly enhanced by your brave actions.”
He continued, “I am proud that the USA was able to help you arrive at this historic and heroic decision… I will work with you both to see if, after a ‘thousand years,’ a solution can be arrived at concerning Kashmir.”
It’s a moment that many in the media would’ve applauded—if anyone but Trump had pulled it off. Lord Sarfraz, however, isn’t playing politics with peace. In his letter to the Starmer government, he made it clear: “President Trump played an instrumental role in averting a full-scale war between nuclear-armed India and Pakistan,” he wrote, according to *Breitbart News*. “Whatever one’s political views, the President has been Peacemaker-In-Chief during this conflict.”
And the facts back him up.
At the time Trump intervened, tensions between India and Pakistan had escalated to a level not seen in decades. Over 125 fighter jets were involved in recent aerial combat, ballistic missiles were being launched into civilian territory, and critical infrastructure was being destroyed. Civilian deaths were rising, and both countries were on a war footing.
Sarfraz summed it up plainly: “India and Pakistan were at the brink – once again – but like never before… Without President Trump’s direct efforts, a ceasefire would not have been possible. The consequences of further escalation could have been devastating for the region and the world.”
This isn’t the first time Trump has brokered peace where others failed. His historic Abraham Accords brought normalization between Israel and several Arab nations—something Washington insiders swore would never happen without concessions to the Palestinian Authority. Trump proved them wrong.
