Jared May, an assistant media technician at Boston University, is facing widespread backlash after a shocking post on the social media platform Bluesky. The post, which featured the names and images of six young men, was accompanied by a “WANTED FOR TREASON” poster, along with the chilling message “DEAD OR ALIVE.” May, in an apparent attempt to rally his followers, accused these individuals of carrying out a “coup” against the federal government in their roles at Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

The response to May’s post has been swift, with many on social media condemning his violent rhetoric. The controversial post has since been deleted, and May’s LinkedIn account, where his employment at Boston University was publicly listed, has also been removed.

In response to the uproar, Boston University issued a statement distancing itself from May’s actions. “We are aware of a post made by an employee on his personal social media account. We do not comment on personnel matters,” a university spokesperson told Breitbart News. However, they were clear in stating, “The views expressed do not reflect the values of Questrom School of Business,” where May worked at the university’s Susilo Business Center.

The social media firestorm surrounding the post was ignited further when Libs of TikTok shared May’s disturbing message on X (formerly Twitter), tagging the FBI and demanding action. “This is the guy calling for DOGE employees to be killed,” the account wrote, calling attention to May’s position at Boston University. The post also suggested that the Department of Government Efficiency, tasked with streamlining the federal government and cutting wasteful spending under Musk’s leadership, should be investigated by the FBI for any potential threats linked to the university employee.

Elon Musk himself responded to the post, declaring, “He has committed a crime.” Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk also weighed in, demanding swift action from Boston University: “A Boston University employee, Jared May, has posted a call for six young DOGE employees to be murdered. Boston University should lose ALL federal grants and funding if May isn’t fired immediately.”

The controversy surrounding May’s post has now drawn the attention of law enforcement officials. U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Edward R. Martin Jr., confirmed that the incident was under investigation. “Certain individuals and/or groups have committed acts that appear to violate the law in targeting DOGE employees,” Martin said on X. “We are in contact with FBI and other law-enforcement partners to proceed rapidly. We also have our prosecutors preparing.”

Martin also pledged to protect workers at the Department of Government Efficiency, noting that some employees have been publicly targeted and harassed due to their roles. “We will not tolerate threats against DOGE workers or law-breaking by the disgruntled,” he stated, reinforcing his commitment to protecting workers under the Trump administration’s agenda of shrinking the federal government. Martin also took the opportunity to criticize the previous administration for failing to take action during the 2020 riots, contrasting the current law enforcement response.

The incident has sparked intense debate on social media, with conservatives highlighting May’s extreme rhetoric as an example of left-wing extremism that undermines national security and threatens the safety of Americans. With May’s violent post now under federal investigation, it remains to be seen how Boston University will handle the fallout and whether further action will be taken to address this dangerous rhetoric. For now, the eyes of the nation are on this developing story, as calls for accountability continue to grow.
