As President Joe Biden publicly assured the nation of his fitness for office, Democrats were secretly gaming out scenarios for his withdrawal—or even his death—well before the 2024 election cycle was in full swing, according to a bombshell new book.
The upcoming book, *Fight: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House* by Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes, reveals that top Democratic officials, party insiders, and even Vice President Kamala Harris’ team were making contingency plans as early as 2023, fearing that Biden, 82, wouldn’t make it to Election Day.
While the White House and left-wing media figures like Joe Scarborough assured Americans that Biden was “sharp as ever,” his own party was quietly plotting exit strategies behind closed doors.
According to the book, aides to Harris were well aware of Biden’s physical and cognitive decline. In fact, they even went as far as to prepare for his death in office.
“One official involved in secret talks put a fine point on the fear that Biden would not make it to Election Day as the party’s nominee: ‘It shows what we had to do to prepare with the unique circumstances we had, which was an 80-plus-year-old president who was running,’” the book states.
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) also had its own secretive strategy sessions, planning for multiple scenarios where Biden would bow out:
– If Biden launched his campaign but had to step aside before the primaries.
– If he won key primaries but couldn’t continue.
– If he secured enough delegates but dropped out before the convention.
– If he officially became the nominee but had to be replaced before the general election.
In other words, the Democrats were preparing for the inevitable, all while deceiving the American public into believing Biden was fit to serve another term.
Perhaps the most chilling revelation from the book is that Harris’ then-communications director, Jamal Simmons, was preparing for Biden’s potential death in office.
Simmons reportedly created a “death-pool roster”—a list of judges who could be on standby to swear Harris in as president should Biden suddenly pass away.
Even more astonishing? Harris wasn’t even informed about this plan before Simmons left her team in January 2023. However, Simmons demanded that he be “notified immediately if something happened to Biden” because he had already crafted an entire media strategy for the moment.
After Biden’s disastrous debate performance against Trump on June 27, which sent his campaign into freefall, Simmons re-emerged and openly called for Biden to resign before the inauguration so Harris could make history as the first female president.
“Joe Biden’s been a phenomenal president,” Simmons told CNN, before adding, “There’s one promise left that he could fulfill: Being a transitional figure. He could resign the presidency in the next 30 days, make Kamala Harris president of the United States.”
Despite his campaign’s best efforts to push forward, Biden’s debate performance was a national embarrassment. Unable to form coherent sentences, struggling to finish thoughts, and looking visibly frail, he lost whatever remaining confidence the party had in him.
While he intended to stay in the race, the pressure from Democratic elites—especially Barack Obama—proved too much. The book recounts a tense moment where Obama bluntly asked Biden, “What is your path?”
Biden, clearly irritated, reportedly thought to himself, “What’s my f—ing plan? What’s your f—ing plan?”
By July 21, Biden was forced to bow out, handing the Democratic Party a chaotic mess with Harris as the most unpopular vice president in modern history leading the ticket.
For over a year, Democrats knew Biden was not capable of finishing a campaign, let alone another four years in office. Yet, they lied to the American people at every turn, propping him up with teleprompters, staged interviews, and media spin.
While Biden was struggling to walk without guidance markers on the floor, Democrats were scheming to replace him—whether through resignation or, disturbingly, even death.
The real scandal? The entire Democratic establishment knew this was coming. And they chose to lie about it.
