Another day, another Democrat caught ignoring the rules they expect the rest of us to follow. This time, it’s Connecticut State Rep. Raghib Allie-Brennan (D-Bethel) who found himself in handcuffs after being busted for shoplifting—and according to police, it wasn’t his first time.

The arrest took place on June 23, 2025, when Allie-Brennan attempted to sneak out of a Target in his hometown of Bethel with around $30 worth of merchandise he hadn’t paid for. He was reportedly recognized by the store’s loss prevention team, not because he’s a public figure, but because they had seen him steal before.

Yes, this wasn’t an isolated lapse in judgment. According to the police report, Allie-Brennan was apprehended due to “previous unreported larcenies,” suggesting this type of behavior was part of a disturbing pattern. Yet the Democratic lawmaker, who serves as Chief Majority Whip in the Connecticut House of Representatives, insists it was all just a misunderstanding.

In a statement that sounded more like excuse-making than accountability, Allie-Brennan claimed he was “in a rush” to visit his grandmother in the hospital and was “juggling multiple purchases” with no bags available. He denied any history of shoplifting—despite police evidence to the contrary—and claimed to take full responsibility, though his words rang hollow.

“I respect the law and Target’s right to enforce their loss prevention policy,” he wrote, while painting himself as a victim of circumstance rather than the perpetrator of petty theft. He even threw in the usual political spin, promising to continue serving with “transparency and integrity.”

Transparency? Hard to believe from a man who was allegedly stealing from a store multiple times while occupying a position of public trust.

House Speaker Matt Ritter (D-Hartford) did his best to downplay the incident, describing it as a harmless mistake—saying Allie-Brennan “inadvertently left the Target self-checkout without scanning several items.” Funny how Democrats are always “inadvertently” breaking the law while pushing legislation to control the lives of everyday citizens.

Let’s not forget: this is the same Allie-Brennan who touts himself as a strong advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and a champion of renewable energy policy. According to his official bio, he’s been “at the forefront” of progressive initiatives since 2018 and holds seats on several influential committees, including Energy and Technology and General Law.

In other words, he’s got no problem regulating your home energy use or your insurance policies—but don’t expect him to follow basic laws about paying for a pair of socks.

As usual, the media tiptoes around the fact that a sitting Democrat lawmaker was caught stealing—while many in the liberal establishment rush to protect him from consequences. One has to wonder: if this were a Republican legislator, would the press be so forgiving? Or would they be calling for resignation, arrest, and public shame?

This incident isn’t just a case of petty theft—it’s yet another example of how Democrats preach virtue while operating with entitlement. Whether it’s shoplifting from a Target or weaponizing government against political opponents, the left’s hypocrisy knows no bounds.

And once again, it’s the taxpayers who are left footing the bill while Democrat lawmakers like Allie-Brennan help themselves to whatever they please—literally.
