In a deeply emotional post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Abigail Love, daughter of former Utah Republican Congresswoman Mia Love, announced that her mother’s battle with brain cancer has taken a devastating turn. After years of fighting glioblastoma (GBM), Love’s condition has worsened, and the cancer is no longer responding to treatment. As a result, the family has shifted its focus from treatment to cherishing the remaining time they have with the beloved former representative.
Mia Love, who made history in 2014 as the first black Republican woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, gained nationwide recognition for her strong conservative values and commitment to her constituents. Representing Utah’s fourth district, Love’s work on the Financial Services Committee cemented her legacy as an advocate for fiscal responsibility. Unfortunately, her promising political career was cut short after she lost her seat to a Democrat in 2018.
In August 2023, Love made the heartbreaking announcement that she had been diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive and deadly brain tumor. Since then, her battle with the disease has been a source of concern and support for many who admired her resilience. However, as of March 1, 2025, her daughter Abigail shared the grim update that the cancer is progressing despite treatment efforts.
In her post, Abigail wrote, “Hello friends, I’m Mia’s daughter Abigail. Many of you are aware that Mom has been fighting GBM brain cancer.” She continued, “Sadly, her cancer is no longer responding to treatment and the cancer is progressing. We have shifted our focus from treatment to enjoying our remaining time with her.”

The announcement struck a somber tone as the family and supporters now brace for the inevitable conclusion of Love’s courageous fight. Abigail asked for the public’s help in celebrating her mother’s legacy, requesting that those with fond memories, photos, or videos of Mia send them to her in an effort to create an archive of Love’s life and work. “I am building an archive of special memories with Mia. Please send your pictures, videos, and memories to me at MiaLoveMemories@gmail.com. Thank you ❤️,” Abigail wrote.
Mia Love’s resilience throughout her health struggles has been remarkable. In a previous post, she shared her strength, saying, “These past few years have not been easy, but I have found strength and solace in my faith and constant support and love in my family. Together, they have given me hope! Whatever challenges you are facing now, keep fighting and know that there is hope.”
Unfortunately, Love isn’t the only one dealing with cancer struggles. Conservative commentator Kat Timpf, known for her appearances on Fox News’ *Gutfeld!*, shared her own cancer diagnosis just days before Abigail’s post. Timpf revealed she had been diagnosed with Stage 0 breast cancer just hours before giving birth to her first child. Despite the frightening diagnosis, she reassured her followers, saying her doctor believes the cancer has not spread. “It’s just, like, a LITTLE bit of cancer,” Timpf humorously wrote, acknowledging the unexpected turn her life had taken.
As both Love and Timpf face health crises, they remind us all of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing each moment. The Love family’s shift toward spending time together and celebrating Mia’s life is a poignant reminder of how precious life is and how we must support those who serve the public with courage, honor, and integrity, just as Mia Love did during her time in Congress.
