In a strange Instagram post, New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claimed she was providing Florida Republicans everything they ever wanted. Because she recently went to the Sunshine State with her beau, Riley, republicans became obsessed with his feet. In an effort to provide what the people wanted, Ocasio-Cortez captured and posted a video of her partner’s feet to Instagram Stories, where the responses were varied as most individuals were startled and uncomfortable while seeing her lover’s feet.
“So we recently went to Florida, where Republicans developed an obsession with Riley’s feet,” AOC said in the Instagram video. In the video, she and her boyfriend are strolling through a parking garage. She pans the camera to her boyfriend’s feet, which are in shoes, and captures them taking many steps on camera. “So give the people what they want!”
In the background, you can hear AOC’s boyfriend, Riley Roberts, giggling.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s video was in response to conservative Republicans criticizing her for going outside without a mask in Florida, which does not have any such measures. She was ridiculed for being seen in public with her boyfriend over the weekend during a leisure trip to Florida.
The couple was photographed walking on a beach, with Roberts wearing Birkenstock sandals in one image. Republicans began mocking his bare feet after Steve Cortes, a conservative Twitter user, went too sexually frustrated in response to Riley’s naked feet. After conservative tweeter Steve Cortes mocked Ocasio-Cortez’s boyfriend for having “weird toes,” she responded by defending him against accusations of weirdness.
Critics were quick to deride Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for “frolicking in free Florida,” while her home state of New York has implemented a strict mask requirement to combat COVID-19 transmission. On December 30, 2021, the New York liberal was in Miami with her beau for lunch.
“AOC is STILL lounging it up in Florida, in large crowds and maskless. This time at a Drag Queen bar in Miami. Rules for thee but not for me,” wrote journalist Brendon Leslie. “For those of you with zero sense of humor: the whole point of this post is to expose hypocrisy. We don’t actually care. She’s maskless. We care she fear mongers about Florida but then has the audacity to vacation here.”
A conservative social media account called Libs of TikTok published a tweet about the incident: “AOC was spotted partying in a bar maskless in the great free state of Florida. Absolute hypocrite.”
Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter: “If Republicans are mad they can’t date me, they can just say that instead of projecting their sexual frustrations onto my boyfriend’s feet. Ya, creepy weirdos. It’s starting to get old ignoring the very obvious, strange, and deranged sexual frustrations that underpin the Republican fixation on me, women,& LGBT+ people in general.”
The congresswoman continued, “These people clearly need therapy, won’t do it, and use politics as their outlet instead. It’s really weird.”
