Every now and then, new internet challenges emerge. Dance challenges and others are proliferating at this time as a result of the popularity of TikTok. A group of police officers stands in front of a camera in one video that went viral just before the epidemic swept across the United States, preparing to dance their hearts out, but they stop when the K-9 dog takes over and performs its own dance routines to entertain humanity.

Blanco Brown, a YouTube star who goes by the handle “Blanco Brown,” created “The Git Up” challenge in the summer of 2019. His initial video, which has over 43 million views within a few months, was inspired by an earlier viral hit. He even developed an instructional film to demonstrate to other people how to perform the dance move and urge them to post their own videos on YouTube and other social media sites.

Many people began performing in front of the camera after Blanco Brown’s instructional film made it simple to pick up the dance steps. The Git Up challenge was quickly accepted by groups around the country, but it was particularly popular among hospital and firehouse staff members. However, at least one police department liked it because of this video’s appearance.

Finally, the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office decided to collaborate with the Yuba City Police Department, the Sutter County Code Enforcement and Courts, and other law-enforcement agencies in order to produce a dance video for YouTube. They streamed it in November 2019 and were stunned by the number of likes they received. The clip has over 9 million views now.

On the YouTube account, hundreds of people left comments about the video. Here are some samples of what people had to say. The canine dancing amazed most of them.

“The dog said, ‘ok, they’ve officially lost it.’ ‘Should I bite someone?’ ‘F*** it, I’m sitting down.’”

“The dog is dancing with his partner so cute. I think y’all won.”

“I love how the dog was dancing with his partner,” one person said. “Y’all won!”

“This is so funny. I fell out of my seat and laughed hard as I can and did it with them, though. It was fun.”

“Awesome! Thank you for your selfless service in keeping us safe! Love the light-heartedness amid the chaos during these unsettling times.”

“That dog is adorable. I like the tall guy upfront. He sure can do the ho-down.”

“The poor Dog is thinking: ‘I don’t remember having been trained for whatever this is! I’ll just pretend I know what I am doing.’”

“Watching from Australia. Smiling the whole video,” wrote an user. “Great stuff. I love the references to super troopers. Good stuff, guys. All the best.”

After their video became popular, the County of Sutter, California, made a statement on YouTube:

“Everyone here in Sutter County is thrilled with the response to this video. Check out our channel for an ‘unveiling’ of the winner.”
