It was another bad day for Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), as his attempt to grandstand in the Senate Judiciary Committee’s FBI Oversight hearing blew up in his face. Schiff went on the attack against FBI Director Kash Patel but ended up getting exposed and dismantled by Patel, who bluntly called out the Democrat as a “fraud,” a “disgrace,” and a “political buffoon.”
Patel didn’t hold back. In a fiery exchange, he thundered: “You are the biggest fraud to ever the United States Senate. You are a disgrace to this institution and an utter coward.” The FBI Director then added: “I’m not surprised. You continue to lie from your perch and put on a show so you can go raise money for your charade. You are a political buffoon at best.”
The blistering rebuke left Schiff visibly shaken, and the California Democrat wasted no time running to friendly media for a damage-control session. Appearing on MSNBC’s “All In” with Chris Hayes, Schiff tried to dismiss Patel as an “incompetent internet troll,” an obvious attempt to spin the fact that he had been thoroughly humiliated in front of the nation.
Hayes, teeing up softballs, asked whether Schiff had confidence in the FBI under Patel’s leadership. Schiff launched into a rant, seething that Patel has been cleaning house at the Bureau — particularly firing entrenched officials who were implicated in politically motivated investigations against Donald Trump.
“No, I don’t know how any of us can have that confidence for a number of reasons,” Schiff said. “One is not only is Patel incompetent, but he is firing all the competent people.”
Of course, Schiff defined “competent” as the very same Deep State hacks who spent years abusing their power to try to bring down Trump. For Schiff, anyone willing to weaponize intelligence against political opponents deserves to keep their job.
The congressman then accused Patel of lying, citing lawsuits from disgruntled FBI employees. But, as usual, Schiff provided no evidence — just another round of vague allegations.
What really set Schiff off was Patel’s decision to reassign FBI resources toward actual law enforcement priorities, including immigration enforcement and border security. Schiff sneered, “He’s firing the experienced people… and taking agents off investigations like sex trafficking and counterterrorism… What is he doing with them? He’s putting them on immigration raids.”
For everyday Americans, Patel’s strategy makes perfect sense: prioritize stopping illegal immigration and criminal aliens over chasing political vendettas. But for Schiff and his allies, keeping the FBI focused on harassing Trump and his supporters is the real mission.
By the end of his MSNBC appearance, Schiff was still fuming, concluding with a desperate jab: “You can take an internet troll and make him FBI director, but he’s still not going to be anything more than an internet troll and that just makes us a lot less safe.”

The reality is the opposite. Under Patel, the FBI has been redirected away from partisan gamesmanship and back toward protecting Americans. Schiff’s meltdown is proof enough that the swamp creatures don’t like it.
For once, Americans saw the tables turned: Schiff — the architect of Russiagate and years of falsehoods — being called out to his face as the corrupt fraud he is. And judging by his pitiful cable news whining, the sting of Patel’s takedown is going to linger for a long time.
