Robyn Griggs, a soap opera actress who was best known for her parts on “Another World” and “One Life to Live,” has died at the age of 49.

With a heavy heart, I’m announcing the passing of Robyn, the star’s public Facebook account announced. “Hi everyone, With a heavy heart, I am saddened to announce Robyn’s death,” the message began. “However, she is no longer suffering and would want us to remember that and the good times.I will never forget how open she was to telling her story, and how grateful she was for me helping her tell it. She wanted to do everything possible so that others may learn about her story and spread it around the world.” I was privileged to be able to assist her in this endeavor. RIP my friend; I adore you and smile when I think of you.”

Griggs, who married golf pro Mark Wiley in 2013, was open with friends and followers about her health problems, as she was diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer in 2020 and revealed this month that she had developed four new tumors.

“I have 4 new tumors. 2 new tumors on my liver, one on abdominal muscle and large one on right side lymph node,” Griggs stated on July 7. “So in pain and I goto chemo Monday am. I told them whatever it takes,. I’m in for the fight.”

The account also states that on Aug. 11, the actress entered hospice care, which she had been utilizing since early June.

“She has fought with determination, strength, and grace that is nothing short of inspirational. Please continue keep Robyn and her family in your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.”

Griggs appeared in six episodes as Stephanie Hobart on “One Life to Live” in 1991. She then starred as Maggie Cory for two years on “Another World.”

Soap operas are one of my favorite genres of television. I love the drama and the suspense that comes with them. I also like the fact that they can be so cheesy at times. It’s a guilty pleasure for sure.

There is just something about watching people’s lives unfold on screen that I find addicting. I am always wondering what is going to happen next. I also like to see how the characters develop over time. Some soap operas can last for years, and it’s really interesting to see how the story arcs play out.

Of course, not all soap operas are created equal. Some are definitely better than others. But, I will watch pretty much any soap opera that is on TV. I am even willing to DVR them if I know that I am going to be busy.

I think that part of the reason why I like soap operas so much is because they are so different from other types of TV shows. They are usually very character-driven, and there is a lot of drama involved. I also like the fact that they can be so predictable at times. It’s nice to know that you can tune in and expect a certain level of entertainment value.

Soap operas have been around for a long time, and I don’t see them going away anytime soon. In fact, I think they are only getting more popular as time goes on. Thanks for giving me a chance to share my love for them!
