Recently, Jena Malone – who was seen in “The Hunger Games” series as Johanna Mason – posted a throwback snapshot on Instagram that was taken shortly after she filmed her final scenes for the last installment of the renowned franchise: “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part Two.”

In the photograph, Malone appears to be all by himself in a wide-open field. She wrote that she “asked the driver to let me out in this field so I could cry and capture this moment.”

Despite Malone’s admission that she experienced “full of gratitude for this project, the people I became close with and this amazing part I got to play,” at that point, those were only a fraction of the emotions she was feeling. Furthermore, she divulged that she encountered “such a traumatic event.”

Malone proclaimed that she “was sexually assaulted by someone I had worked with” during the film production. After eight years of perseverance and dedication, the film was released in 2015. Fast forward to 2023, she now knows “how to make peace with the person who violated me and make peace with myself.” She said, “I’ve worked very hard to heal and learn thru restorative justice.” She continued, “I’m ready to move thru it and reclaim the joy and accomplishment I felt.”

Malone concluded her post with a call to action for anyone else who has or is enduring similar hardship. She said, “I want to say I’m here for anyone who needs to talk or vent or open uncommunicated spaces within themselves. Please dm me if you need a safe space to be heard.”

The “Hunger Games” celebrity Stef Dawson, who is best known for her portrayal of Annie Cresta, responded to Malone’s post: “I’ve said this to you but want to say it here too, you are a beautiful brave soul. I treasured this day, this moment on our spontaneous stop in this Parisian field on the way home, but so deeply sorry this time was full of such heartache and complexity for you. Sending you love and support, then, now, and always.”

Willow Shields, the actress who brought Primrose Everdeen to life in the “Hunger Games” movies, also expressed her thoughts on Malone’s post. She said, “This post has me at a loss of words. I understand and I hope that though the process is so slow you are okay Jena.”
