Hank, an unfortunate pup, never experienced the love and affection he deserved. His family seemingly provided for him until one day they made a cruel decision to abandon Hank in a forest with supplies like food that he couldn’t open on his own, used toys, and even a doggy bed. To make matters worse, Hank was also left alone with a broken leg.
By the grace of a Good Samaritan, Hank was discovered in the depths of the wilderness. The pup had obediently maintained his composure- lounging on his dog bed like an angel. His savior contacted a nearby animal shelter who promptly dispatched volunteers to pluck him from peril and neglect.
When he was eventually saved, law enforcement officials conjectured that Hank had been left behind for around two weeks.
“Only a puppy at eight months old yet has been through so much. His tail started wagging once he knew he was being taken to the veterinary hospital. We cannot imagine why anyone would dump him with a broken leg. Left him with his bed, toys, and food in the woods. Whoever you are, please know that Hank is now safe and will never ever be hurt again,” Humans and Animals United posted on its Facebook page.
The rescuers of Hank approached him with a sense of trepidation, expecting that he might be hostile due to being forced into survival mode. To their pleasant surprise and great relief, the pup was nothing but gentle from the start; his sweetness evident since help first arrived for him.
“He was nothing but love from the moment they got him,” Rosa Fond, founder of Humans and Animals United, said. “Everybody says that he’s the sweetest dog.”
When Hank was rescued, he was taken to the vet who deduced that his lack of mobility stemmed from a broken leg. This fracture had been present for at least two weeks and made it too excruciating for him to move around on his own. Unfortunately, surgery would be necessary in order to mend the break—an expensive operation that nearly resulted in euthanasia were it not for some generous donors.
Thankfully, at the mercy of Humans and Animals United, Hank was spared euthanasia and prepped for his broken leg surgery. The only obstacle in sight? Increasing Hank’s weight back up as he had been significantly malnourished when discovered. After a long period without food, it became an arduous task to get him healthy again – but thanks to these generous people, he made it out alive!
Hank’s story quickly went viral once it was shared on social media, leading to an outpouring of generous donations that enabled the animal charity to give Hank the treatment he needed for a full recovery. Thanks to these incredibly kind donors, who were appalled by his former owners’ mistreatment of him, Hank is now safe and healthy.
After Hank’s surgery was a complete triumph, he is now on the road to recovery. Unfortunately, the poor pup is still underweight and lives with foster parents who are doing all they can to get him back in shape – providing multiple servings of food each day! With any luck, his weight will soon come up so that he’ll be healthy again.
With luck, Hank will soon be a part of his forever family.
