Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) is in full meltdown mode—and the timing couldn’t be more telling.

Appearing on former Biden White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki’s show on MS NOW (the rebranded MSNBC), the Minnesota Democrat launched into a furious tirade against Immigration and Customs Enforcement, accusing federal agents of making Minneapolis “less safe.” The outburst comes as Klobuchar is widely rumored to be eyeing a run for governor, following Gov. Tim Walz’s political implosion amid a sprawling fraud scandal that has embarrassed state Democrats and enraged taxpayers.

The problem for Klobuchar? The facts aren’t on her side.

ICE has surged resources into Minneapolis for two very clear reasons. First, federal authorities are unraveling one of the largest fraud scandals in recent memory, involving millions—if not billions—of taxpayer dollars siphoned off through welfare and social service programs. Many of the suspects tied to the scheme are connected to tightly knit networks within the city’s Somali immigrant community. ICE and DHS agents have been executing raids on businesses and individuals linked to the fraud, drawing predictable outrage from the activist left.

Second, tensions exploded after an ICE agent was allegedly attacked by a radical protester who attempted to run him down with her vehicle. The agent fired his weapon in what the Trump administration and DHS have stated was a clear case of self-defense. Instead of condemning the violence, progressive politicians and activists rushed to demonize law enforcement, triggering days of unrest and threats against federal officers.

In response, ICE and DHS flooded Minneapolis with federal agents to restore order and protect their personnel. According to local officials, the number of federal agents in the city now exceeds the number of Minneapolis and St. Paul police officers combined—a stunning indictment of years of Democrat-led “defund the police” policies.

That reality sent Klobuchar into a panic.

“By the numbers,” she complained to Psaki, “there are now more ICE agents in Minnesota than there are police officers combined Minneapolis Police Force and St. Paul police force.” Rather than asking why a major American city can’t adequately staff its own police department, Klobuchar framed the presence of federal law enforcement as the problem.

Even more absurdly, the senator suggested the entire enforcement operation should be halted because some detainees allegedly claimed they had passports. “They have picked up people who are legal,” she insisted, recounting anecdotes of individuals shouting, “I have a passport!”

What Klobuchar failed to mention—perhaps conveniently—is that possessing a passport does not automatically mean someone is legally present in the United States. Visa overstays, fraudulent documents, and other immigration violations are precisely what ICE is tasked with investigating. Law enforcement doesn’t stop doing its job just because a suspect yells an excuse.

Conservatives wasted no time calling out Klobuchar’s hysteria. Political commentator Ryan Fournier summed it up bluntly: Democrats are “losing it” because federal agents now outnumber local police. “Good!” he wrote. “If the local leaders won’t secure their streets and stop the fraud, the Feds will. Keep ‘em coming! LAW AND ORDER IS BACK!”

At the end of the day, Klobuchar’s rant revealed more about the Democratic Party than about ICE. Faced with rampant fraud, rising crime, and lawless protests, Democrats aren’t demanding accountability—they’re attacking the only institutions still willing to enforce the law.

And with an election looming in Minnesota, voters are watching closely.
