President Trump is more popular now than at any point in his first term, and Americans are feeling more optimistic about the country’s future than they have in decades. That’s the reality even CNN was forced to admit this week, as left-leaning analyst Harry Enten delivered a “reality check” that no doubt left the network’s viewers reeling.
Despite the mainstream media’s relentless attempts to paint Trump as “unpopular,” his numbers tell a different story. While his net-favorable rating currently stands at -4%, it’s a significant improvement from the -10 rating he had in March 2017 and the -7 rating he held right after his historic November 2024 victory. In other words, Trump’s momentum is growing, and the American people are taking notice.

“All we talk about is how unpopular Donald Trump is,” Enten admitted, before delivering the hard truth. “But in reality, he’s basically more popular than he was at any point in term number one and more popular than he was when he won the election back in November of 2024.”
For years, pollsters have underestimated Trump’s support. Now, even the left-wing media can’t deny that his popularity is near its peak.
Enten further pointed out that the share of Americans who believe the country is on the right track is skyrocketing. A recent Marist poll found that 45% of Americans now say the country is headed in the right direction—the second-highest number recorded since 2009. Meanwhile, an NBC News poll found 44% of Americans share that sentiment—the highest number since 2004.

It wasn’t long ago that Americans were drowning in Biden-era failures—skyrocketing inflation, open borders, crippling crime, and global chaos. Under the disastrous leadership of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, optimism about the nation’s future hit rock bottom.
Enten reminded viewers that just before Trump’s landslide victory against Harris, a pathetic 27-28% of Americans believed the country was on the right track. That’s what four years of weak leadership and radical leftist policies brought us. But now, with Trump back at the helm, optimism is surging.
“The bottom line is, the percentage of Americans who say we’re on the right track is through the roof,” Enten said, making it clear that the shift is undeniable.

If these trends continue, the GOP is well-positioned for a red wave in the 2026 midterms. Enten noted that the “generic congressional ballot” is currently leaning Republican, mirroring past elections where the GOP emerged victorious.
Americans are making their voices heard: they want Trump’s leadership, America-first policies, and a government that works for them—not against them. And if Democrats thought 2024 was a reckoning, they might not be prepared for what’s coming next.
