Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is one of the most recognized faces in American politics. Donald Trump and many conservatives hate her. Her views are progressive. In any other country, she would not be in the same political party as Joe Biden. He is so much more conservative than she is.
Ocasio-Cortez is also known as AOC. She gained celebrity status when she became the youngest person ever elected to the House of Representatives. She did it by defeating 10-year incumbent Joe Crowley for New York’s 14th Congressional district. She suddenly found herself in the limelight, transitioning from her previous job waiting on tables to introducing the New Green Deal to Congress.
When AOC came to Washington DC, she hoped to represent all working-class Americans and fight for social, economic, and racial justice. She envisioned banding together with a newly elected group of progressives to bring about change. She found DC to be much different from what she expected. She found a legislative body concerned with self-preservation and electoral outcomes. She believes that change is possible with political education. She has stood by her liberal values, which have earned her the wrath of Republicans. She admits that her progressive leanings have made her unpopular among conservatives and recognizes her status as one of the most hated persons in American politics.
