Robin Williams’ suicide in 2014 was one of the most tragic celebrity deaths in recent history. Losing Robin was difficult for his fans, but it was even harder for his loved ones. Robin’s wife, Susan Schneider Williams, revealed more information about him in her first interview since his death.

Susan explained that her husband had been struggling with a brain disease for several years before he passed away. He was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia, and his doctor told him he probably only had three years left, and he didn’t guarantee that those years would be good.

Susan said, “They would’ve been hard years. And it’s a good chance he would have been locked up.” In the weeks leading up to his suicide, Robin had been feeling very anxious and paranoid. With the help of his doctors, he was planning on checking into a facility to receive neurocognitive testing.

As Susan described Robin’s deteriorating health, she teared up and struggled to speak. When she spoke about their relationship, she said, “It’s the best love I ever dreamed of. You know, it’s what I always dreamed a love would be, as just really based on, just honor, love, and respect.”

The last conversation the two ever had was right before Susan went to sleep, and they both said, “Good night, my love.” Susan and Robin had such strong and real love for each other, and it’s heartbreaking that their marriage was cut short by Robin’s death. Hopefully, she will be able to heal over time.
