Exhaust fans can be very annoying because the buildup of dust leads to a lot of extra noise. The best way to avoid this issue is to be intentional about cleaning your exhaust fans.

If you do it periodically, this is a simple job that will save you a lot of irritation. All you need is a few basic supplies. You can do a thorough cleaning of the exhaust fan by turning it off and taking off the cover.

Use a larger dry paintbrush to dust in and around the fan area. Pay close attention to where the dust is gathered and have a hand vacuum at the ready to suck up the fallen debris.

You may want to wear a face mask to avoid an adverse reaction to the dust, and a stepladder or stool may help you achieve the best reach. After going over the area with the dry paintbrush, use a clean rag to do a sweep of the fan.

Once you have carefully wiped the fan with the rag, inside and out, you will be ready to put the cover back on. While you may still have to deal with a bit of noise from the exhaust fan, this will drastically reduce the amount of racket that you will need to endure.
