Al Sharpton is one of those public figures that seems to constantly be in the middle of some controversy that he has put himself into.
Once again, that is the case. On October 2nd of 2014, Sharpton’s daughter claims she accidentally stepped into a pothole while crossing a street in NYC. The intersection was at Broadway and Broome Street, and she claims she heard a loud snapping sound when her ankle rolled.
It didn’t take long for Al Sharpton to issue a lawsuit against NYC, claiming that his daughter had pain and continued suffering as a result of the negligence of the city.
According to the medical records of Sharpton’s daughter, she went to the emergency room for the event, yet nothing was broken.
However, she did have to use a therapeutic boot for some time, and she underwent ligament surgery. The lawsuit in question was valued at $5 million by Sharpton. However, there were some glaring inconsistencies with the chain of events.
Only a few hours after she supposedly injured her ankle, she attended a celebration for her father that lasted for over two hours, and she was seen dancing at the event in high heels.
She also visited Miami, where her fiancé lives, over 10 times in the year after the incident.
An Instagram photo of Sharpton’s daughter revealed she even climbed a mountain in Bali during her supposed recovery.
When pressed, she said the images on Instagram didn’t do her experience justice since she had to stop many times, and she claimed to be upset at her inability to do extreme physical activities that she had never done before the ‘injury’.
