In yet another outrageous display of far-left pandering, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson doubled down on his city’s radical sanctuary city status, proudly declaring that Chicago police will never cooperate with ICE, no matter how dangerous the criminal alien population becomes. The mayor’s inflammatory remarks—both on stage and on social media—sent a clear message: illegal immigrants come first, and federal law enforcement can take a hike.
Despite the city struggling under the weight of over 51,000 illegal immigrants since 2022, Johnson continues to embrace the failed sanctuary city model that’s turned once-great urban centers into lawless, bankrupt havens for non-citizens. Instead of working with federal officials to secure his city, Johnson accused the Trump administration of “terrorizing” immigrant families and bizarrely compared ICE operations to the Confederacy winning the Civil War.
Yes, really.
Johnson’s tone-deaf rant came after reports of ICE enforcement operations in Chicago—operations aimed at apprehending criminal illegal aliens, not law-abiding residents. But instead of working with federal authorities to ensure safety for Chicagoans, Johnson went on the offensive, blasting President Trump and posting bilingual warnings to illegals on social media.
In one such post, Johnson wrote, “We’ve received reports of ICE enforcement activity in Chicago today. Please know that Chicago police were not involved.” He added, “It’s important that everyone understands their rights,” and directed followers to a taxpayer-funded “Know Your Rights” guide—essentially a how-to manual for avoiding lawful deportation.
As if undermining federal law enforcement wasn’t enough, Johnson launched into full theatrical meltdown mode. He accused ICE agents of “setting human traps” and said the enforcement raids were ordered by President Trump in a move that somehow made Trump “look worse than George Wallace.”
The absurdity didn’t go unanswered.
White House Press Secretary Abigail Jackson fired back, calling out Johnson and other radical Democrats for prioritizing violent criminal aliens over their own citizens. “Democrat politicians are desperate to defend violent criminal illegal aliens over American citizens. It’s wrong,” she stated firmly. “President Trump is committed to carrying out the largest mass deportation operation in history by specifically targeting dangerous sanctuary cities.”
The backlash against Johnson didn’t stop at the White House. Americans across social media erupted with justified outrage. One user slammed the mayor’s hypocrisy:
“Nobody had a problem with deporting when Democrats did it. You weren’t running around calling Clinton or Obama fascists. You are nothing but a race-baiting, lying hypocrite activist.”
Another commenter didn’t hold back either:
“Is this the only way you can try to become relevant—by your racist comments? You aren’t doing anything to bring people together but keep flaming the fire of racism.”
Meanwhile, Trump’s immigration team, led by seasoned border hawk Tom Homan, reports a 700% increase in assaults on ICE agents — a surge many attribute to the unhinged, anti-ICE rhetoric coming from the Left. As Homan put it plainly: “Words have consequences.”
And in cities like Chicago, the consequences are clear: skyrocketing crime, overwhelmed services, and elected leaders more interested in scoring political points than protecting American lives.
Mayor Johnson may think he’s scoring woke points, but in the real world, he’s exposing his city—and its people—to real danger. Fortunately, President Trump’s message is clear: The days of sanctuary cities thumbing their nose at federal law are numbered.
