The left’s favorite daytime propaganda show, ABC’s *The View*, delivered yet another unhinged spectacle this week as co-host Whoopi Goldberg completely lost control over President Donald Trump’s latest comments about the media. Proving once again why the program has become a safe space for liberal hysteria, Goldberg ranted that Trump “doesn’t understand how the First Amendment works” — while ignoring the fact that the left itself has spent years trying to silence conservatives.
The fireworks began when Goldberg introduced a clip of Trump criticizing the overwhelmingly negative coverage he receives from the corporate press. Trump noted that despite networks running 97% negative coverage during his campaign, he still won all seven swing states. He then pointed out the obvious: if the media is abusing its public trust, maybe regulators should reconsider whether they deserve their broadcast licenses.
To ordinary Americans, that’s common sense. To Whoopi Goldberg, it was grounds for a meltdown.
“No, it’s not up to Brendan Carr,” Goldberg shouted, referring to the FCC commissioner. “I don’t understand how you are the man in charge of the nation and you still don’t understand how the First Amendment works!”
Of course, Goldberg and her co-hosts conveniently left out the part where the First Amendment protects *citizens* from government censorship — not massive corporations that exploit their platforms to lie, smear, and openly incite hatred against conservatives. When networks spend years branding Trump supporters as racists and extremists, then turn around and whine about “freedom of the press,” the hypocrisy couldn’t be clearer.
Co-host Sunny Hostin jumped in to echo the liberal talking points, lecturing the audience with a clumsy history lesson about Thomas Jefferson and the Supreme Court. She even bungled her own anecdote, claiming she “remembered being in law school in 1929” before sheepishly correcting herself. The irony? Jefferson, the man Hostin quoted, has been routinely trashed by the very same left-wing elites now using his words as a political weapon.
Then came the most absurd part of the lecture: Hostin insisted that America must protect “the freedom to express the thought we hate.” This from the same crew that cheers when conservatives are deplatformed, censored, shadowbanned, or outright fired for daring to question liberal orthodoxy. Apparently, “free speech” only matters when it shields late-night hacks like Jimmy Kimmel or failed cable personalities like Joy Reid.
The entire segment revealed what many conservatives already know: the left’s sudden love affair with the First Amendment is a fraud. When Christian bakers, pro-life students, or conservative speakers are silenced, mocked, or harassed, *The View* stays silent. But when Donald Trump dares to call out a corporate media empire that has waged war against him and his supporters for nearly a decade, suddenly the Constitution becomes their favorite prop.
In the end, Goldberg’s rant wasn’t about defending free speech. It was about defending her friends in the media cartel who are finally facing public backlash. Trump was right — Americans are tired of being fed wall-to-wall propaganda and calling it “news.” If that has the Whoopis of the world shrieking on live TV, then maybe the president hit a nerve.
