Whether you like it or not, wrapping gifts is an inevitable part of the Christmas season. If you aren’t very good at wrapping, then you’ve probably either relied on store bought gift bags or have gotten other people to wrap gifts for you. However, there are tried and true techniques available to help even the most pathetic gift wrapper turn into a pro overnight. In this article, we will go through tips for wrapping unusually shaped items with the help of Amy Goodman. In case you haven’t heard of her, Amy Goodman works as a lifestyle editor at Zulily.com. Goodman recently shared tips on how to make a gift wrap bag on The Meredith Vieira Show.

First, grab your wrapping paper, tape, and scissors. Be sure to unroll your paper on a flat surface. Goodman says to first ensure the paper you cut out can go around your item completely. Then, put your gift item to the side, and fold each side of the paper toward the middle. There should be just a bit of overlap in the middle of the paper. You then tape these two folded over pieces of the paper together with a few pieces of tape.

After both sides of the paper are taped up, you just have to remember “all about that bass.” That’s right, grab the bottom of the paper and fold it upwards, ensuring the amount of paper you fold up matches with your gift’s width. You then open up the base of the gift wrap paper and create a diamond by folding out the right and left sides into triangle shapes. After that, fold the top and bottom of this new diamond inwards and tape the tips together. Lastly, open up this paper gift wrap bag, fluff it up a bit, put your item inside, and tape it up. There’s really no simpler way to wrap gifts than following these tips by Goodman. Be sure to watch the entire clip to go over Goodman’s technique in greater detail.
