Portland once again descended into leftist-fueled mayhem this weekend, as a violent mob of radical agitators attacked a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility on Saturday night — injuring four federal officers and wreaking havoc on federal property.
Clad in black and armed with fireworks and a makeshift battering ram, the rioters breached the ICE building’s entrance, shattering glass doors and overwhelming law enforcement personnel who were outnumbered and under siege. According to *Oregon Live*, the domestic extremists turned what began as a protest into a full-blown assault on federal authority — all in the name of opposing President Trump and immigration enforcement.
The violence erupted after a so-called “No Kings” march — an ironic slogan considering the mob’s demand for lawless open borders — attracted tens of thousands to downtown Portland. By late evening, it devolved into another example of what leftist “activism” looks like in real time: criminal destruction, chaos, and violence directed at the very people sworn to keep Americans safe.
Authorities declared the scene an unlawful assembly around 6:30 p.m. and ordered the crowd to disperse. But the warning fell on deaf ears. Federal officers in tactical gear were forced to respond with tear gas, flash grenades, and other crowd control measures after the mob began pelting them with fireworks, bottles, and other projectiles.
By 8 p.m., law enforcement made it official: the protest was now criminal. Rioters had crossed the line into assault and criminal mischief. Local police warned that arrests were imminent — and they weren’t bluffing. At least three agitators were taken into custody, including two who allegedly assaulted peace officers. Despite efforts to restore order, the damage had already been done.
Four federal officers were injured in the melee, though thankfully none of the injuries were reported as life-threatening. The building was eventually secured, and by 9 p.m., authorities declared the situation was no longer a riot — though the damage to public trust and federal property was already evident.
This violent outburst is just the latest example of what happens when soft-on-crime leadership enables radical elements to run rampant. Portland, a city that has become a poster child for lawlessness under far-left governance, continues to suffer from the consequences of coddling criminals masquerading as protesters.
The Department of Homeland Security had a firm response for those responsible: “You will not stop us or slow us down,” read a statement posted on X. “ICE and our federal law enforcement partners will continue to enforce the law.”
“Secretary [Kristi] Noem’s message to the rioters is clear,” the statement continued. “If you lay a hand on a law enforcement officer, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
Let’s be clear: this wasn’t a peaceful protest. It was an orchestrated act of lawlessness driven by hatred for America’s borders, law enforcement, and the rule of law. And it’s time for Portland — and every city enabling this kind of behavior — to stop making excuses and start holding these anarchists accountable. Enough is enough.
