Appearing on MSNBC’s The Weeknight, DeLauro, known more for her eccentric purple hair than sound fiscal policy, went off the rails, claiming that cutting government waste was somehow “stealing.” Her target? Elon Musk and Donald Trump, for daring to slow the gravy train that Democrats have ridden for decades.
“Elon Musk knew nothing about impoundment or the appropriations process,” she ranted. “They are stealing these funds.” Apparently, to DeLauro, streamlining government and targeting fraud is theft—but taxpayer dollars vanishing into foreign aid boondoggles and leftist pet projects? That’s just fine.
She leaned hard on the old “power of the purse” argument, quoting Article I of the Constitution to insist that only Congress has spending authority. But what DeLauro ignores is that Trump isn’t stealing anything—he’s enforcing accountability and transparency in how those funds are used, something Democrats have long resisted.
DeLauro then revealed what this tantrum was *really* about: control. “I’m the ranking member on appropriations,” she snapped, making clear that her frustration was less about the Constitution and more about being cut out of the loop on wasteful spending decisions.
She fumed, “I’m not willing to give this power to President Obama, President Clinton, or certainly not Donald Trump.” In other words, she doesn’t trust *anyone* outside of her own far-left echo chamber to make spending decisions. That’s not oversight—that’s entitlement.
As if that wasn’t enough, DeLauro bizarrely claimed that appropriations bills are “bicameral and bipartisan,” ignoring the fact that these bills are typically crafted behind closed doors and jammed through with minimal scrutiny. “They’re signed into law,” she declared, as though that justifies every dollar spent on waste, fraud, and pork-barrel projects.
Meanwhile, the fallout from Democrats’ open-borders obsession is putting lives at risk. Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration and bureaucratic bloat has ruffled feathers in all the right places. As former ICE director Tom Homan recently pointed out, ICE officers are being doxed and assaulted across the country—yet leftists like Hakeem Jeffries remain silent or, worse, openly hostile toward those enforcing our laws.
“They’ve got a dangerous job to do, and they’re being doxed every day,” Homan warned. “I’ve experienced it myself a hundred times.” But the Left doesn’t care—if anything, they’re enabling this lawlessness.
Conservatives on X lit up the comments section in defense of ICE and the Trump administration’s efforts to restore law and order. One user wrote, “Arrest \[Jeffries] and throw him in jail… He has no business being in Congress.” Another added, “It’s a FEDERAL crime to dox Federal ICE Agents.
