In a bold move that underscores his unapologetic support for Israel and disdain for left-wing political theater, President Donald Trump has removed Doug Emhoff—husband of former Vice President Kamala Harris—from the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council. Emhoff’s ouster is part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to sweep out Biden-era appointees and restore principled leadership to institutions that have veered off course under Democrat influence.

Emhoff, who was appointed by Joe Biden just months ago, took to X (formerly Twitter) to play the victim card. “Let me be clear: Holocaust remembrance and education should never be politicized,” he wrote, ironically ignoring the fact that his own tenure reeked of left-wing virtue signaling rather than genuine advocacy for Jewish heritage or Israel.

Emhoff was a high-profile figure during the Biden years, serving on a so-called “antisemitism task force” that did little to stop the wave of anti-Israel sentiment pouring from the radical left, especially following the horrific October 7, 2023 Hamas terror attacks. While Jewish students were being harassed on college campuses and pro-Hamas protests flooded American cities, the Biden White House offered little more than hollow statements and token gestures. Emhoff’s position was a prime example of that empty posturing.

But President Trump is done playing nice. As White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt put it, “President Trump looks forward to appointing new individuals who will not only continue to honor the memory of those who perished in the Holocaust, but who are also steadfast supporters of the State of Israel.” In other words, Trump is cleaning house and bringing in people who actually walk the walk—not just talk.

The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum plays a vital role in educating future generations about the horrors of the Holocaust and the importance of standing against tyranny. But it cannot fulfill that mission if its leadership includes individuals who treat it as a political trophy or who hesitate to back America’s greatest ally in the Middle East.

Let’s be honest: under Democrat leadership, institutions like this one have drifted toward woke revisionism, where historical remembrance takes a backseat to identity politics and progressive talking points. President Trump’s decision is a much-needed correction—a reminder that remembrance must be grounded in moral clarity and strength, not fashionable posturing.

The left predictably howled in outrage at the firings, with The New York Times rushing to frame the move as “politicizing” Holocaust remembrance. But the real politicization happened the moment the Biden administration stuffed the board with activists more concerned with optics than outcomes.

President Trump is sending a clear message: America stands with Israel, and our public institutions should reflect that unwavering support. As he has done throughout his political career, Trump is cutting through the noise, rejecting weakness, and making sure America’s values aren’t compromised by progressive ideologues masquerading as public servants.
