President Donald Trump is taking a firm stand against the left’s radical gender ideology, announcing that his administration will strip federal funding from the state of Maine after officials allowed a male athlete to compete in—and win—a girls’ state championship event.
The controversy erupted after a transgender-identifying athlete, who had placed fifth in the boys’ pole vault just two years ago, took first place in the girls’ Class B state championship. This blatant unfairness sparked outrage among parents, athletes, and conservatives nationwide—yet Maine officials refused to act.
Trump, however, is not backing down.
Early in his presidency, Trump signed an executive order titled “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports,” ensuring that female athletes are protected from biological males infiltrating their competitions. Yet, in open defiance of federal law, Maine’s Department of Education announced in January that it would not comply with Trump’s order.
That decision has now come with serious consequences.
“I heard men are still playing in Maine,” Trump said last week. “We’re not gonna give any federal money. They are still saying, ‘We want men to play in women’s sports.’ And I cannot believe they’re doing that.”
The president made it crystal clear: “We’re not gonna give them any federal funding—none whatsoever, until they clean that up.”
Maine Republican State Representative Laurel Libby wasted no time in calling out the absurdity of the situation.
Posting on Facebook, she highlighted how the athlete in question had a mediocre record competing against other males but suddenly became a champion when competing against girls.
“Two years ago, [boy’s name] tied for 5th place in boys’ pole vault. Tonight, ‘[girl’s name]’ won 1st place in the girls’ Maine State Class B Championship,” Libby wrote.
She then slammed the Maine Principals’ Association for bowing to political pressure instead of standing up for fairness.
“The decision… to continue allowing male athletes to compete against female athletes in school athletic competitions is outrageous,” Libby said, calling on the Trump administration to act swiftly to restore fairness for female athletes in Maine.
Governor Janet Mills, a far-left Democrat, tried to challenge Trump’s decision, declaring, “We’ll see you in court.”
Trump’s response? Bring it on.
“Good, I’ll see you in court,” he fired back. “I look forward to that. That should be a real easy one. And enjoy your life after governor, because I don’t think you’ll be in elected politics.”
Trump’s administration has made it abundantly clear that the federal government will not fund programs that erase women from their own sports.
A White House statement on “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports” laid out the policy:
“In recent years, many educational institutions and athletic associations have allowed men to compete in women’s sports. This is demeaning, unfair, and dangerous to women and girls, and denies them the equal opportunity to participate and excel in competitive sports.”
“It is the policy of the United States to rescind all funds from educational programs that deprive women and girls of fair athletic opportunities… It shall also be the policy of the United States to oppose male competitive participation in women’s sports more broadly, as a matter of safety, fairness, dignity, and truth.”
Trump is once again proving why he’s the strongest fighter for women’s rights in modern politics.
While radical leftists push an agenda that robs women of their opportunities, Trump is standing firm. He refuses to let Democrats sacrifice fairness, safety, and common sense at the altar of woke ideology.
Maine has a choice: Follow the law and protect women’s sports—or lose every penny of federal funding.
Trump has made it clear: biological males do not belong in women’s sports. Period.
