During his confirmation hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee, FBI Director Kash Patel didn’t hold back. Facing questioning from Senator Ted Cruz, Patel made it clear that then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had serious responsibility for the security failures on January 6, 2021. But the real fireworks started when Senate Democrat Whip Dick Durbin completely lost his composure, attacking Patel for daring to question the left’s carefully crafted J6 narrative.
The hearing, held on January 30, took a dramatic turn when Cruz pressed Patel on who was ultimately responsible for Capitol security. “Who did the Sergeant at Arms report to?” Cruz asked. Patel answered plainly, “The Speaker of the House.” Cruz followed up, asking, “That would have been Nancy Pelosi at the time, is that correct?” Patel confirmed, “Yes, Senator.”
Cruz then broadened the scope, asking about then-Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s role. Patel confirmed that Schumer also had oversight, but crucially, he pointed out that Pelosi’s office had put in writing—before January 6—that they were declining additional National Guard support. “That letter is available publicly to the world,” Patel said, dismantling the left’s false claims that Trump failed to act.
Durbin’s Meltdown Over J6 Political Prisoners
Patel’s blunt honesty didn’t sit well with Senator Durbin, who quickly spiraled into an unhinged rant. The Illinois Democrat was particularly triggered by Patel’s insistence that many of those imprisoned for J6 were political prisoners, falsely accused and unfairly treated by an overreaching justice system.
Durbin, desperate to paint Trump supporters as violent extremists, started rambling about political violence, throwing in a reference to Paul Pelosi’s now-infamous “home invasion” incident. “Violence has no place in politics,” Durbin declared, before launching into a tirade against conservative groups.
Then, in a moment of pure leftist authoritarianism, Durbin smeared pro-Trump organizations and essentially called for their eradication. “Those people, [the] Proud Boys, whatever they call themselves, have no place in this country as far as I’m concerned if they espouse violence in any form. Do you agree?” Durbin demanded, signaling that only leftist-approved groups are allowed to exist.
The J6 Choir Scandal—Durbin’s Hypocrisy on Full Display
One of the most telling moments came when Durbin exploded over Patel’s involvement with the J6 Choir—a group formed by political prisoners who have been railroaded by Biden’s DOJ. Durbin raged that helping those unfairly imprisoned was unacceptable, sneering, “Why are we so concerned about this choir singing a song?”
He then pushed the tired media narrative that everyone jailed over J6 was guilty of attacking police officers, ignoring the reality that many were peaceful protestors who simply walked through open doors. “Are you going to help the victims of January 6—the police and their families—or are you going to help the people arrested for assaulting [Capitol Police officers]?” Durbin barked.
FBI’s Role in J6—The Question Democrats Won’t Answer
Finally, Durbin tried to bury Patel with a loaded question, practically shouting, “Let me ask you about one of the major conspiracy theories that I’ve heard, and you’re associated with—that the FBI planned January 6. Why did you say that?”
But Patel didn’t back down, dismissing Durbin’s attempt to twist his words. The reality remains: the FBI and other government agencies have serious questions to answer about their involvement in J6, from informants in the crowd to why security was so lax despite warnings.
The Truth Is Coming Out
What Kash Patel’s testimony made crystal clear is this—Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and the Democrat establishment had control over Capitol security, and they refused help. Instead of answering for their failures, they’ve spent years demonizing Trump supporters and imprisoning political dissidents.
Durbin’s meltdown only proves one thing: the left is terrified of the truth. And no matter how much they try to suppress it, Americans are waking up.
