Fans of Tom Hanks were greatly concerned earlier this month, when it appeared that he was unable to control the trembling in his arm. Many people speculated that the extremely popular American actor might have a medical condition like Parkinson’s or something equally as terrible. Despite Hanks’ efforts to promote his latest film, which is a biography about Elvis Presley, he plays the singer’s manager in Baz Luhrmann’s biopic.
Luhrmann is an Australian expat who lobbied for the Elvis film to be shot in Brisbane. Luhrmann was born and reared in Sydney, Australia. The filmmaker decided to have the picture shown on the Gold Coast of Australia, which is about fifty miles from Brisbane.
Hanks was in attendance for the film’s premiere on June 4, 2022, along with its star Austin Butler, who plays the King of Rock and Roll. Although he portrays the King of Rock and Roll himself, Austin Butler does a fantastic job as a result of his excellent work.
“There is no better place in the world to make a motion picture than right here on the Gold Coast,” Hanks told the crowd in Australia. However, many fans noticed that he was shaking the microphone, which concerned a lot of people on social media who began to wonder if Hanks had been diagnosed with an incurable disease.
The hand holding the microphone began to shake out of control as Hanks spoke to the crowd.
“I’ve shot films in Morocco and Los Angeles and New York City and Seattle and in Berlin. None of them have what the Gold Coast has, and what is that? Two words. None of those other cities have Dan Murphy,” he said with reference to the Australian beverage chain Dan Murphy’s.
“What a man, who I got to know quite well,” he stated.
Hanks’ right hand starts to shake violently. To minimize the amount of shaking, Hanks places his left hand on the microphone below his right to steady it. He also changes hands in order to give his right hand a rest from shaking so much.
Hanks’ health condition went unnoticed by the audience.
“We had an absolutely magnificent time with you all,” said Hanks to the public at the Elvis biopic premiere. “There is something about the people and the place of the Gold Coast that makes everyone walk around with a confident look on their faces. We were a part of that. Your confidence, joy, and zest for life come through in our motion picture.”
Hanks continued, “You have a wonderful proactive golden son in Baz Luhrmann who loves Australia more than kangaroos, more than Dan Murphy.”
Hanks has not spoken about his trembling hand in public. He made it back to the United States in time for the film’s premiere at Graceland, Tennessee, on June 11, 2022.
“The only reason I’m here, it’s been done right,” said Lisa Marie Presley, praising Luhrmann and Butler for their efforts to channel her father. “I was quite young, but I still remember my father’s energy and his vibe. And Austin, he — what’s the word? — he nailed it.”
