The comedian Tim Allen has the reputation of a working class man who is not afraid to tell it like it is. Much of this reputation stems from the success of his old sitcom Home Improvement.
However, it is also earned through his routines and interactions with the media. For example, Tim Allen recently let the world know how much of a regular guy he is. Like many people in the country, Tim Allen likes to talk about Jesus Christ every now and again. Not surprisingly, this makes some folks a bit upset. However, this doesn’t stop Tim Allen from getting his way.The most recent example of this occurred in a scene from his hit sitcom Last Man Standing.
In the scene, two characters discuss a common misrepresentation about Jesus Christ. One character implies that Jesus Christ is going to punish the other because of making a bad decision. However, the other suggests such thinking creates a one dimensional portrait of Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ, the character explains, is much more complex than that. Jesus Christ, he continues, loves us deeply enough to spare punishment if we are honest. The scene creates a much richer portrayal of Christianity than many people wish to see. It is a scene like this that network executives had asked Allen to trim back. Obviously, Allen refused.
