A user on Reddit called FinallyGotMyMustang has a dream of one day owning a ‘69 Mustang Mach 1. Since this car is difficult to find, it was a difficult dream to make come true.

He eventually did come across one, though, and grabbed the opportunity to own the car he’d wanted for such a long time.

The car was in pretty bad shape.

The front end was missing and the body panels were being eaten away by rust. There wasn’t a motor, either, and the trunk was completely rusted. The interior and some body panels were also missing, and both the drive train and the suspension were worthless.

The dash was somewhat in tact, but definitely in need of repair. Overall, the car was completely shot and nearly impossible to restore.

Even though the new owner didn’t have much experience restoring cars, he still wanted to give it a shot.

By updating a vintage car and bringing it back to life, the car can increase in value and it can even create demand for restored cars. Using a number of original parts – as many as he could possibly use – he slowly rebuilt and restored the Mustang.

After three years and only $15,000, the car was completely rebuilt and FinallyGotMyMustang finally got the car he’d wanted for so long.
