There are many items that you know to look for and stay away from when they are seen. Officers are warning you to contact the police if you see a certain device anywhere.

Sometimes, protecting people comes at a price as a family in Idaho lost their dog after a device used by the Department of Agriculture was found on a farm.

Canyon Mansfield took his dog for a walk one afternoon when he saw a pipe that was sticking up from the ground. When he touched the pipe, it started to release poison into the air.

The pipe looked like a sprinkler that might be used for watering crops. The top of the device popped off, and an orange gas started spreading.

This device is an M-44. The government has planted them in the past to distribute cyanide. The devices were put in place to try to contend with some of the dangers that people see in nature.

However, if they are found, it’s important to contact police as they can be deadly. Canyon was able to get away from the gas, but his dog wasn’t able to handle the strength of the gas and died.

The family was never told that there was a device like this on their property. Officers who arrived weren’t even sure what they were looking at when they investigated.

There is now a possible ban for using these devices in the future.
