If there’s one thing *The View* is good for, it’s giving the most radical voices on the left a national platform to demand more chaos. This time, co-host Sunny Hostin took things up a notch by criticizing Democrats who *didn’t* follow Rep. Al Green’s (D-TX) lead and throw a tantrum during President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address.
Green, who was ultimately booted from the House Chamber, made a spectacle of himself by waving his cane and shouting nonsense about Trump’s policies—prompting Speaker Mike Johnson to have him removed by the Sergeant at Arms. His behavior was so disruptive that even his fellow Democrats fell silent, unwilling to join his public meltdown.
But to Hostin, that wasn’t enough. She ranted on *The View* that Democrats should have backed Green’s outburst and staged a mass walkout in the middle of Trump’s address—an act of unprecedented disrespect.
“What I saw when Rep. Al Green stood up and said, ‘You don’t have a mandate to take away Medicaid,’ and he was tossed out, I expected the rest of his Democratic caucus, the rest of his colleagues, to walk out with him,” Hostin fumed on the March 5 episode.

Apparently, to Hostin, throwing a fit and disrupting the President of the United States is the kind of “solidarity” Democrats need. “Because alone you can survive, but together you thrive. That is the energy that we need. They should have stood with him in solidarity,” she added.
Hostin then invoked Biden’s failed press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, warning that Democrats can’t play by the rules anymore. “We had Karine Jean-Pierre here on this show yesterday, and she said we have to have a sense of urgency as we move forward, and we cannot do it the way we have in the past. This is not normal. It is a five-alarm fire.”
Translation: Since Democrats can’t win on policy, they should resort to theatrics and political stunts instead.
But Hostin didn’t stop there—she went on to claim that Trump has “thrown away the rule book,” which, in her mind, justifies Democrats abandoning all civility. “You can’t play by the rules with a party that has thrown away the rule book. You cannot do it,” she declared, without offering a single example of what rules she thinks Trump has discarded.
Thankfully, not everyone on *The View* was on board with Hostin’s absurd take. Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin, while still a liberal, at least had the sense to recognize how ridiculous Green’s behavior was. “I thought that Elissa Slotkin was masterful, and I think she gave Democrats the winning message that they failed to have. But I thought the antics on the floor were not helpful. I don’t think that waving a cane is the optics that the Democrats want in this,” she said.
She’s right—what Americans saw was a party in shambles, resorting to screeching and childish outbursts because they have no real leadership and no real message. The modern Democrat Party, fueled by figures like Sunny Hostin, is more concerned with throwing tantrums than actually governing.
If this is the “energy” Hostin wants to see from Democrats, then they should brace themselves for another resounding loss in November.
