In what many conservatives are calling a much-needed reprieve from left-wing media hysteria, *The View* has announced it will be heading into a “hiatus” after one more episode—just as the show’s co-hosts spiral over the cancellation of fellow liberal mouthpiece Stephen Colbert.
Co-host Joy Behar made the announcement during the July 24 broadcast, telling viewers, “Before we go on hiatus, we only have one more show after this. I’m allowed to say that, right? Too late now, so it doesn’t really matter.”
While ABC claims this is part of the show’s routine summer break, the timing couldn’t be more interesting. The network’s far-left daytime gabfest, known for its Trump-bashing theatrics and thinly veiled Democrat cheerleading, is suddenly hitting pause—right as panic sets in over CBS’s decision to axe The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
And no one is taking it harder than the ladies of The View.
Co-host Sunny Hostin didn’t hold back, calling Colbert’s cancellation a direct threat to the U.S. Constitution. “If it is political, this is the dismantling of our democracy,” she declared, visibly agitated. “The First Amendment is the First Amendment for a reason… If comedians are being attacked, then that means our Constitution is being dismantled.”
Apparently, for Hostin, nothing says “constitutional crisis” quite like a network deciding to pull the plug on a ratings-challenged comedian who spent the better part of a decade mocking conservatives while cozying up to Democrat politicians.
Colbert’s departure from the airwaves comes at a time when the mainstream media’s grip on public opinion appears to be weakening. Woke talk shows are losing their punch, late-night ratings are plummeting, and Americans are increasingly tuning out the endless noise from partisan hosts who think virtue-signaling is the same as journalism.
Joy Behar, meanwhile, tried to frame the hiatus in dramatic terms—offering her own conspiracy theory that Rupert Murdoch, of all people, might be behind the downfall of former President Trump. “The ultimate irony would be that Rupert Murdoch will take him down. Yeah, Fox News, who created the monster, will take him down,” she said, referencing an alleged letter about Trump’s supposed ties to Jeffrey Epstein—claims Trump has already strongly denied.
Behar also tried to rally her dwindling audience by declaring, “The tide is turning and things are changing,” perhaps a desperate attempt to reassure the show’s liberal faithful that the anti-Trump resistance is still alive, even as the media landscape shifts beneath them.
Online, many conservatives greeted the hiatus as a welcome pause from daily doses of leftist lecturing. One X user noted, “Colbert off the air. *The View* on hiatus. Feels less like summer break, more like someone’s editing the commentary circuit.”
Another put it more bluntly: “America just got smarter overnight.”
While ABC insists The View will return in September, it’s hard to ignore the larger trend: viewers are fed up with the same tired anti-Trump narrative from self-righteous hosts who act more like DNC spokespeople than journalists or entertainers.
For now, Americans can enjoy the silence. With Colbert gone and *The View* temporarily off the air, it feels like common sense just scored a rare win in the media world.
