In a fiery defense of law enforcement and border security, House Speaker Mike Johnson blasted House Democrats on Thursday for their disturbing push to unmask ICE agents — the brave men and women tasked with enforcing America’s immigration laws.
Johnson didn’t mince words, calling out the blatant hypocrisy of leftist lawmakers like House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who have criticized ICE agents for wearing masks while carrying out arrests of illegal migrants. In an interview with Fox News, Johnson tore into Democrats for attacking ICE while ignoring the growing crisis at the border — a crisis their policies helped create.
“From the people who mandated mask wearing for years in America, it’s absurd,” Johnson said, referencing the same Democrat officials who imposed draconian COVID restrictions now complaining about ICE agents protecting their identities.
And it’s not hard to see why agents are masking up — far-left activists have made a sport out of doxing, harassing, and threatening law enforcement officers who dare to uphold immigration law. But according to Jeffries and his fellow Democrats, ICE agents shouldn’t be allowed even that basic level of protection.
When asked if he was okay with agents not revealing their identities during arrests, Johnson fired back: “Why? So that they can target them? So they can put their names and faces online and dox them? That’s what these activists do. So we have to protect those who protect our communities.”
Speaker Johnson hit the nail on the head. This isn’t about “transparency” — it’s about intimidation. It’s about Democrats trying to score political points by putting federal agents and their families at risk, all in the name of open borders and social justice.
Hakeem Jeffries made headlines earlier this week when he ominously declared that ICE agents “will be identified, no matter what it takes, no matter how long it takes.” If that doesn’t sound like a threat, it’s hard to imagine what does.
When pressed on whether revealing ICE agents’ identities could endanger them and their loved ones, Jeffries gave a predictably flippant answer, saying that DHS officials should be held to “the same standards” of transparency as local police.
But what Jeffries and his radical colleagues refuse to acknowledge is that ICE agents are facing a completely different battlefield — one that involves drug cartels, human traffickers, and activists hell-bent on dismantling immigration enforcement.
Speaker Johnson stood firm: “They’re trying to uphold the rule of law, and they don’t want to be targeted by Democrat activists… It is patently absurd for members of Congress or any other elected leader to call out ICE for simply trying to do their job.”
In a time when Democrat leaders prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens, it’s refreshing to hear someone like Mike Johnson say what millions of Americans are thinking: we need to support our agents, not smear them.
If Joe Biden and the radical left want to play politics with national security, they’ll have to answer to the American people — and in 2024, that answer is coming.
